My instinct would be to block him playing against us
....
There is the dilemma. I would rather be rid of him and if it comes at the expense of the Europey then so be it.

I've never understood this nonsense that its up to us to subside wages for players who leave us permanently.
Does he think he is worth £400k a week for the rest of his career? If he wants to leave to join Inter he should have to accept he won't be getting the same salary.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree with you 100% but if you were offered probably 50% or less than what you already earn to work elsewhere would you take it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Obviously not, but I am on an ordinary salary with bills to pay.
But if the choice is earning 100-200k a week at a place where I enjoyed working or 400k a week at a place which doesn't want me. I would choose the first option. I also know that I will not be getting 400k a week anywhere else when I move.
Like VC says, Ed needs to stand firm on this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If I'm Sanchez, and Woodward says, "Well, you can come back and stew in the reserves for a season on £400k per week or you can go play football every week at Inter for £100k," my response would be, "You have my bank details, thank you very much."
It's £15m quid before tax, ffs. He'd be mental to walk away from that contract. Like clinically insane.

players take pay cuts all the time, the question is how much will it be. it's extremely unlikely to be as severe as a 75% pay cut, inter will pay him more than that - eriksen is apparently on £260k for instance - and italian taxes for high earners are lower than they are over here.
so if inter pay him £250k, that might be the equivalent of £300k over here. and then the issue is not quite so straightforward.

He had already agreed terms with a new club to leave, Real blocked the deal, you muppet.
......
Obviously there was something in it Real didn’t agree with. You do know that both clubs have to be in agreement, yes? Idiot.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, both clubs were in agreement, until Real changed their mind, so they are twaats. Therefore he is still at Madrid and the frog chooses not to play him. All of this is hardly Bales fault.

We’ll be paying him off one way or another if he leaves this summer.
