It's absolutely what they do.
They all do it in some way or another. Try to bury bad news and try to detract from one story with another.
They also brief ministers to use the same terminology in order to score highly with search algorithms.
I'm getting very bored with the BBC calling them illegal. It's not illegal at all.

Must admit that Brexit likely leading to more asylum seekers due to not being protected by EU law is actually quite amusing to me.
The thing is it works on a large amount of the British public. It's pretty awful how ignorant and outright xenophobic large swathes of our country are.
You have to hope the next generation will be better educated but it's a problem that doesn't seem to be going away any time soon.
