It's actually against Maritime Law to not help people in trouble AR sea regardless of who they are and the circumstances.

Its like a doctor refusing to help a dying person cause they got injured say trying to steal something, the doctor has to treat them.

That doesn't make the crossing legal, we should be bringing them in and returning them to France ASAP to discourage people making the journey but current laws don't allow it. People have died coming on those boats and will do again

Was thinking the same, look at the disaster direct provision here in Ireland is.

I'm not interested in legal loopholes as to whether we define them as asylum seekers or economic migrants tbh. What's happening is clearly wrong but if there's a valid reason why people should make the journey instead of claiming asylum in France then I would be willing to change my mind.
