Championship Last Night

For fans, best league in the world and no shortage of skill and effort, without primadonas and merceneries, well apart from leicester(where is that anyway), and year on year anyone can beat anyone as proven on any given day.

Thanks Igor. Frustrating at the same time though, we expected to beat Barnsley but they turned up and played well and you feel like you are back to square one! Lots of ups and downs this season I fancy.

Good points here, esp igor's. I agree, best league for fans no doubt.

As for it being a tough game against Barnsley, well against anyone in the league in fact. I sometimes have to remind myself that is exactly what league systems do. In this case the league process takes all the club in the UK, hundreds of them, and matches the closest 20ish in capability with each other. When I get my head around it, it makes sense of every game being tough. That's the way it is designed.

The only league that defies that, is the one that has been spoiled by interference from outside, the one where certain clubs stand no chance of competing fairly, the one which supports immoral odds of 7000 plus to one against a team winning the league.......The Premiership.

Agreed with the OP.
The middle needs a bit of steel in there, along with the ability to hold the ball and make a few passes.
In all truth, the performances are very good.
We might need a dollop of self belief.
I hope Chris Hughton and the boards decision not to offer contracts to Parnaby and McFadden are because they are saving the wage bill for a marquee loan signing.
I disagree with the line of thought that the Championship is somehow better than the Premier League.
If it is, then why bother to get promoted?
Perhaps this explains why West Ham and Brighton decided to lose. Who would want to compete in the most watched and richest league in the world anyway?

Having just scanned the 'official Blues' message board, I see the oh too predictable is happening there. The tide is turning against CH, the weaker minded individuals on that board are starting to have a go at CH. Appalling behaviour, but oh so predictable from some of our poor supporters. Why the administration team put up with the damage these folk do to Blues I will never understand. Ah well, another flaw in the running of the club. We really do need more supporters who understand the first principles of football to stand a chance of getting the sort of support that is needed in difficult times.

I'm with you there ED. There'll always be a few who expect, or demand, we should win every game and storm this league.
CH can only use what he's got at his disposal. If these fans arent happy with his management then who do they think will come here instead.

Blackrose,

I agree, you probably would have expected to beat Barnsley at home at the start of the season. But look at how they are playing away from home, they are undefeated away.

I'm sure Derby fans thought "they are undefeated but I fancy us to beat them". They needed a penalty to come from behind (to another Butterfield goal) to draw 1-1.

I know it's an old cliche, but I don't think there are any easy games in this league. Even if we were up against Doncaster (who are bottom) at home this weekend I wouldn't expect a win as they are playing well under Dean Saunders.

Well said stevecarr, we did expect to beat them but it was the proverbial game of two halfs and we battered them in the second and this game is all about goals, on a other day we could have had 4 or 5, but credit to barnsley they defended stoutly.

Oh no, not Doncaster. Three years ago we beat them1-0, picked up three points. But I also picked up three on the way to the game & three coming away, plus £120 debit to my assets. I have just dropped from 9 pts on my license to 3. A memorable game. Hrumph.

ED.
Speeding? Boy racers hey.

Nice to be called a boy racer at 63 RBC . Personally, I am convinced that the people who operate the cameras around Stan's are supporters of an unmentionable local rival club.

Perhaps Yeung could install speed cameras near that ground by the A38(M). He could make a fortune with everyone in a rush to get away from AM and his boring tactics.

Hi everyone have not heard much critical comments about Chris Hughton as done fantastic job with no money.

Fans can and will be critical of players that dont battle @ Blues...... I foe one will hope we can tie Chris Hughton to long term deal before bigger clubs coming knocking on his door.... KRO

As i said the season is a long one...

Lets look at the Favorites before the season kicked off....

West Ham (currently 4th) strongest squad!
Leicester (currently 12th 5pts off relegation).
Forest (currently 20th)
Cardiff (currently 8th)
Blackpool (currently 10th)
Ipswich (currently 11th)

The above was all tipped for play off chassing, some bookies had Blues as 3rd-5th favs others tipped us to struggle, others tipped Brighton for play off places others midtable.

So far only Southampton look in form and look likely to finish in Top 4 as for the rest its still open, Derby, Hull and Boro could all just as easy finish midtable and the above sides like Leicester etc could end up back towards the Top.

The season will only start to really take shape after 20 games i recon and even then a lot can change, as dont forget Reading was doing well a few seasons back untill they fell apart which is why we got promoted 2nd

I think we could get 5th-10th dont see us getting higher or lower (depending on games/pts and not administration).

The championship is just the way I imagine the first divsion used to be when clough was about at derby, few right signings and any one can win it, every one level playing field except leciester and west ham this year, its about luck and a good run of form not 200m on players, good to watch and impossible to predict
