But, for instance, a male who self-identifies as a female has never experienced being female. They don't have a female body, have not been socialised as a female, and, importantly, don't have a 'female brain' (because such thing doesn't exist)
That's not to dismiss that experiencing gender dysphoria likely feels very real to the subject

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know in Rebecca Quinn's case they have probably fully transitioned. But the principle of transgenderism is identity. You don't need hormones/surgery to be a transgender woman (a man who identifies as a woman). It is just down to how you want to be identified. Again you can see how complicated this makes things eg. a transgender woman wanting to play in a women's league who has not transitioned or taking hormones.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
here lies the danger
Rebecca is telling her story to help others like her but also normalise the situation. But where is the boundary?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There is nothing normal about it frankly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I fully accept that a women's mind can be born in the wrong male body, nature is a freak, and whilst it is not the standard, it does happen and therefor should not be treated as a freak accident.

Being transgender is about the brain.
Sports is about the physical stature.
Transgenders should not compete in sports of their non-birth 'assignment'. It is always the Male to Female ones too who end up doing that never the other way - because of the advantage or lack of!
A player the stature of Dan James is expected to compete against players the stature of Maguire / VVD. I therefore dont see how 1 male to female makes THAT big a difference in football.

Yes, there is a disparity between Dan James and VVD as an example but small in relative terms. Now Imagine VVD went into women's football. Does the disparity grow and does it become way too large that it becomes unfair? I'd say the answer to both those questions is yes.

I know that's your point, that's what I replied to. My reply was that there is a small disparity in relative terms but potentially a massive and extremely unfair disparity if transgenders play in the female game.
Also generally smaller players in the male game make up for their size difference through other means like pace, however males are normally quicker than females, again in relative terms and therefore this 'advantage' against the massive disadvantage is reduced.

A player the stature of Dan James is expected to compete against players the stature of Maguire / VVD. I therefore dont see how 1 male to female makes THAT big a difference in football.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, there is a disparity between Dan James and VVD as an example but small in relative terms. Now Imagine VVD went into women's football. Does the disparity grow and does it become way too large that it becomes unfair? I'd say the answer to both those questions is yes.

My point is that there are disparities between size and strength across most sports. Fellaini, Lukaku, Hulk, Maguires size doesnt give them huge advantages.

I know that's your point, that's what I replied to. My reply was that there is a small disparity in relative terms but potentially a massive and extremely unfair disparity if transgenders play in the female game.

So do you believe Dan James or Fellaini would be world class In the female game if they were to transition?
