Although the problem is, not all Premier League clubs are flush either and some will also struggle the longer this goes on.
But principally, I think we should be better than saying just let market forces dictate what happens.
The Premier League benefits from a thriving lower league structure and to just let clubs die would be appalling.

As the OP says if theatres are getting bailed out why aren't lower league teams?
That being said, if the government don't help I think the premier league have an obligation to help. It would be awful for football to see professional clubs going out of business whilst our clubs are signing £50m players still.

It is not the Prem`s task in life to bail out other clubs, no matter how much money they have. I assume you earn more money than some people you know. Are you going to bail them out, just because you earn more?
Well being a committed socialist I’d say yes, HOWEVER why is football being singled out and held to a different standard? Are the Hedge Fund’s and investment banks helping small businesses? Are Amazon helping Argos? Is Richard Branson, Mike Ashley or Tim Martin helping ANYBODY?
The Prem relies on the lower leagues and grassroots football. There is no Pre without them, unless they break away and form a new competition.
IMO, the Prem must bail them out, not the government.

Football clubs are generally run by business men, its their business. The level of losses involved should question whether the businesses are viable or sustainable before simply demanding taxpayer money to keep them going.
Now if government intervention could apply regulations that depended on the business becoming sustainable, such as through wage caps limit wages to turnover % then its a different conversation, but that can't or won't happen.
The only other option is a case by case bailout depending on viability, rather than a blanket open chequebook.

And would your viewpoint still be the same had you not been promoted last season? Genuine question as your wage bill and the losses you'd be making would probably have put you near the top of the endangered clubs list.

Rubbish, the Prem could manage very well, and it does, without lower league football and grassroots football. I get the sentimental stuff, but the bottom line is, most normal working people will be the same boat as lower league clubs, but they won`t have anybody to bail them out, and pay their mortgages etc. It may not be what you want to hear, but the world has changed now, and you cannot just prop up clubs if they cannot afford to run themselves.

Yes.
