My problem with Lampard (at the moment)

posted on 30/9/20

I just think we have all these fabulous attacking players, but our defence and holding players are not good enough, especially to play how Lampard wants. Quite frankly, if a p¡ss poor team like West Brom can press us and win the ball 15 yards from goal because we are leaving too much space, a half decent team will muller us. As soon as we conceded space to Spurs, they didn't have to work to be in on goal. It's obvious really.

I think the issue is you have a PE teacher leading your team.

Thanks for your insight into this problem we'll get back to you

It doesn't even make sense, let alone based on humour - very strange comment if you ask me Sheriff!!

I think you guys will eventually settle on

Kante Jorginho/Kovacic
Ziyech Havertz Pulisic
Werner

Hope not...that midfield has serious issues with speed/imagination & passing ability.

I'd actually (in time) like to see us try Silva pushed up into a DM slot with Tomori & Zouma behind...I think he has the chops for that job

Unless we suddenly buy a Pirlo of some sort...Or Billy Gilmour morphs into him

Silva...as in Thiago Silva?

You just condemned the midfield for speed, imagination and passing ability

You are confusing a defensive midfielder a la Makalele, with a deep lying playmaker like Xavi or Pirlo. On paper, they play the same position but their roles are not defensive, in fact they are defensively null. We already have someone that can do that in Jorginho. The problem is it only works if you make space and time for them, and in the premier league it's difficult, added to the fact that we need more intelligent midfielders around him. We have some quality players but they do not complement each other in style and substance. When we play two "holding" players, we invite teams onto us too much. We also isolate the two deeper midfielders allowing teams to overload us when they attack.

Jorginho is no play maker...in fact i'm not sure what he is really

Jorg isn't as good as Kante...at much of anything, & he isn't as good as Kova (can be) going forward...needs to go play for Sarri

even his pens have been found out...& I hate those pens, even though he's been very successful with them

How can a penalty technique be found out?

By realizing that if you don't blink first and react after he makes contact you will likely still have enough time to dive and block the shot.

Unless he puts it in the bottom corner beyond his reach. The idea a penalty technique can be found out is ridiculous.

Honestly...you fackwit, His type of pens are the most likely to be found out, by virtue of how he is likely to approach it

Granted saving it is still to be completed...& he had a 100% record until recently - but it's still telegraphed

Just no. Bruno does the same, he hasn’t been ‘found out’ as he’s really good at taking pens, as is Jorginho. Pen techniques don’t get found it. It’s incredibly stupid to think they do.

I've got to agree with Sheriff here. Do a hop, skip and a jump every time and you're going to get rumbled eventually.

A blast in the top right/Left hand corner is the only way to stop a keeper getting to it.

posted on 2/10/20

But they haven’t been rumbled, it’s a matter of poor execution of the pen. Which is the same for any penalty technique a footballer can use.

Sorry can't agree, if they know it's going to come low and slow, they know they're in with a chance and the longer they can hold their nerve the greater chance of pulling the save of.

Hard and high in the corners gives them no chance!

But that doesn’t mean the technique is being found out. Jorginho and Bruno will continue to score more pens than they miss taking it this way because they are good at pens.

I actually hate it as they look like belleeends doing it. But it clearly works.
