What defines success?

Caveat to the above is that Europa win and a top 6 finish I define as success.

CL football without trophy or trophy without CL football is a failure.

Top4 & trophy is my expectations

A trophy or top 4 but not both

Neither

Carling cup and 8th place would suffice then Hengy?

If I was a Spurs fan I would have three levels of expectation..

Good season - Europa and 6th place
Great season - Any trophy and 4th place
Superb season - 3rd place and Europa

I think Jose will possibly have a superb season.

Back in the CL has to be a priority. As does winning something.

With that in mind I think Jose and the club will go all out to win the Europa, which would give us both of those things.

Honestly, I think we’ll put a title challenge in.

Huge expectations now with the manager backed 100% so what we would consider success has gone up a level.

success for me is qualifying for Champions league.

Do that and we keep Kane et al.

DO that while winning the Europa, even better. Ticks all the boxes.

I just think that winning the league cup will not be enough on its own to show real progress & quality.

I think we’ll finish fourth and Europa.

However would 5th and no trophy constitute a sacking?

CL + trophy - Excellent
CL, no trophy - Good
EL, trophy - Good
EL, no trophy - Not good

I think we're gonna win the League Cup and Europa and finish 2nd. Mirror Jose's United season.

Yea I’d probably take it just for getting the no trophy of our back.

Although finishing that low never come across my mind. More thinking 5th or 6tg

Although saying that I don’t class the league cup as a major trophy anymore due to taking the Europa spot away.

CL football still the priority for me. Especially given how weak our rivals are looking I'd be very disappointed with lower than 4th.

Obviously winning the Europa is the perfect scenario.

If we don't qualify for the CL though a domestic cup isn't enough for me. I doubt kane would stay if we're not in the CL next year but won a cup.

I'd take that in a heart beat!

For the next 10 years, would you rather be in the CL every season, but not win a trophy in that 10 years, because you concentrate on qualifying on the CL each year?

Or would you rather win a trophy every season for 10 years but not qualify for the CL at all cos you were busy winning trophies?

The trophies you win in this scenario are the carling cup and the FA cup, obviously.

Win Europa and finish 3rd

It shouldn't do IMO.

5th would be an improvement from last season.

Give Jose a proper pre-season and another Summer window.

Win a trophy, any trophy and top 6 finish is a must

posted on 6/10/20

If I may Edin.

In my opinion success for the Spurs board would be qualification for next seasons CL while for many supporters success would be a trophy of any sorts seeing as it has been 12 years?

So last week of the season, you have a match to secure top 4 against Arsenal, who will get top 4 if you don't win, followed by the FA Cup final against Chelsea 2 days later. The players are complaining of fatigue, most saying they will only be fit enough for one of the games. Which do you prioritise?

posted on 6/10/20

Ok what defines success is to see Spurs in 1 or 2 finals, whether it's Ropey cup or domestic cup, and a top 4 finish.

Though I have a feeling Jose is aiming far higher

posted on 6/10/20

With Jose, you know if we are in a final, we have strong chance of winning.
Jose prepares the team according to the occasion, location and opposition.

I think we are gonna make top 4. Would obviously love a trophy but I think that's a difficult demand to make on a manager..... so much luck (Re draw and now with so many games being one leg). I expect us to make the later stages of all comps (QFs are a minimum) but Jose and club (for the efforts in the window) should be judged by where we finish in the league.

As much as we as fans & probably most of the players all want a trophy, a top 4 spot is far more important to the club.

I think Levy would be disappointed with a League Cup win and a 6th place finish

In this instance the first game. Are we going to run through every possible scenario?

We're already seeing better football and enjoying watching our team again.

Keep that up and win a cup as well and I'll call it a good season.

Despite a a great transfer window though, we're a Hojbjerg injury away from having a very unprotected back line

Address this in January without any disasters in the league and Jose will have done well for Spurs in balancing a disjointed squad.

So either improvement in team and playing style with a cup, or top 4 and no cup will both be decent seasons.
