I think it was as simple as has been reported. Emi wanted assurances he would be no.1 and Arteta doesn't like being told who to select. So that was that. I think Arteta probably didn't acknowledge enough in his mind how important commanding the box is for a defence.

Macey is worse. He is also awful with his feet, which is clearly how Arteta wants to play.

Again, we signed some Icelandic nobody from Dijons bench to go ahead of Macey. Why would Macey be the one to go in anyway?

A managers job is to keep his staff informed of where they are in their career. Emi was very clear that sitting as a no.2 for a decade he needed assurances.

Emi was clear he would only sign a new contract if he was no.1. If Arteta accepted that Emi would have been Arsenal's no.1. So he didn't appreciate being told who to select!

Kroenke funded the Partey move even with the money we got for Emi. when we couldn't sell Guen or Torreira then we were considering offers for Emi, AMN and Bellerin. And I think Kroenke stepped in at the end when we still couldn't afford the money for Partey to stop a fan backlash.

Yeah, was just reading back and about to make this very point.

Emi in goal for Arsenal, Ainsley playing for Wolves.

So far this season, we'd have definitely have felt stronger.

In hindsight it would have been better to sell AMN (if we had to sell anyone which I still fail to understand why we did).

But that’s only because Arteta is not playing him for whatever reason. For me AMN should be in our best XI. Saka is being wasted at LWB which in turn is leading to AMN being wasted on the bench.

Think Arteta really likes the Tierney - Saka - Auba triumvirate. Thought it worked pretty well with Ainsley in there too, last season.

Either way, he should be playing ahead of Cedric.
