Stop mentioning Macey, J99. He is awful with his feet and a poor all round 'keeper.
Runar was signed as #2, at least go for him.

I think it was as simple as has been reported. Emi wanted assurances he would be no.1 and Arteta doesn't like being told who to select. So that was that. I think Arteta probably didn't acknowledge enough in his mind how important commanding the box is for a defence.
--------
No, I think that's you making things up.
Someone needed to be sold and Emi was the most sellable, end of story.

I never 'make things up'. Leave that to the uninformed.
I was told that there was a 95 per cent chance I would start against Fulham [on the first day of the season], but I just thought, ‘why not 100 per cent?’ Something didn’t feel right. Everyone wanted me to stay, but that’s when I decided to go.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is what I disagree with "and Arteta doesn't like being told who to select."
Why not give Macey a go. He can't be any worse. If he doesn't measure up there is the Jan window.

Strange, we have gone from Leno would have been easy to sell to he is worse than the modern day Stuart Taylor.
Macey is worse. He is also awful with his feet, which is clearly how Arteta wants to play.
Again, we signed some Icelandic nobody from Dijons bench to go ahead of Macey. Why would Macey be the one to go in anyway?
Emi turned out to be good so every 'keeper who hasn't got games in a decade will also be good is very, very strange logic.

A managers job is to keep his staff informed of where they are in their career. Emi was very clear that sitting as a no.2 for a decade he needed assurances.
Emi was clear he would only sign a new contract if he was no.1. If Arteta accepted that Emi would have been Arsenal's no.1. So he didn't appreciate being told who to select!

Is where you are making stories up. It's more likely
He couldn't assure him that and Arteta told him that, well not in the short term anyway. You'll be having a £100K/week goalkeeper on the bench?
Kroenke funded the Partey move even with the money we got for Emi. when we couldn't sell Guen or Torreira then we were considering offers for Emi, AMN and Bellerin. And I think Kroenke stepped in at the end when we still couldn't afford the money for Partey to stop a fan backlash.

If Arteta accepted being told, wouldn't Emi be no.1? He just won him the cup and Arteta said to him his selection is 95% for the Fulham game.
Do you now accept it was Emi's decision to go and not that we sold him cause we needed money?
What do you think Leno's price is now? Arteta could have easily sold him in Jan or next summer. The more he plays at the moment the worse he looks. And not only for Arsenal. He had a very poor outing for Germany letting in 3 goals against Turkey.
You talk of £100k/week on the bench but we have just told Sokratis who is also on £100k/week and Ozil £350k/Week that they are not going to play at all!
I don't think the Emi money was for Partey. We looked desperate to sell around that time, I reckon there were other reasons.
As it is going, we probably should have sold AMN though.
