There is no feckin way that was a free kick so it was odds on they would score from it

Disappointing goal to concede. But main problem we have is what I was saying a month ago, we just don’t have enough goals in this team, other than through one player

No complaints. Going to play every game with the handbrake on worrying about the opposition and that sort of thing is going to catch you.

Saiss at wing back today against a side with no intention of attacking is pitiful and then to replace him with another defensive minded one sums it up.

I think most people on here are agreed that what is missing from last season is a decent outlet on the left. We're at home again on Friday against Palace, much as I like Saiss as a player he surely can't start in that position again. It seemed odd to me that Saiss was subbed off for Marcal when Ait-Nouri could have been given his debut.

I think I would start Marcal on Friday for Saiss and blood Ait-Nouri if the opportunity arrives. I also reckon it's time for Traore to have a start, instead of Neto probably.

It's just not quite right at the moment.

After all the comments it was interesting to see that Newcastle only scored after Saiss went off and on the left side.
Fussy ref and it was never a free kick.
We are getting into the habit of conceding late goals.
To drop two points to that team was a travesty.

Neto and Podence out.

I thought Marcal did ok today. Got much further down the wing than Saiss and even into their area a couple of times. He is certainly a better option there than Saiss.

But who other than Raul is getting into scoring positions. Neto, Podence and Neves all rely on long distance shots but we hardly ever see anyone other than Raul looking for the ball in the opponents area, and most goals in football are scored from closer to goal than the penalty spot. Traore needs more game time and from the bench we need to see more of Silva who is a centre forward and will be looking for the ball in the opponents area

I think we need to change the system to get bodies in the box. Perhaps a front two of Jimenez and Silva eventually. Neto behind and Podence and Traore left and right.

4-2-3-1 but of course that isn't going to happen with us heavily invested in wing backs.

We have only scored 6 goals, only the bottom 4 have scored less.
Says it all.

Before today we had spent the joint lowest amount of time in the opposition third.
