Ain’t just the money, it’s the principle. If I wanted to, I could easily fork out the money for these Spurs games, but if I start paying for it and every other mug does, this gives them the ammunition to continue with this farcical Box office. I think if enough people protest with their wallet and that’s by giving them as little as possible, they will eventually knock this on the head and actually put more games on Sky and Bt for the people like myself who actually pay enough money as it is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree to an extent Don, but I know you like to go to a restaurants, you have said so. I bet some of them are complete rip offs for the food served. Do you complain about that, or do you just continue to go?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sandy, I get your point, but this is completely different. A restaurant isn’t trying to take advantage of a bad situation. This for me is the powers that be using this pandemic to try and rip off supporters. This box office thing wouldn’t of existed had this Covid 19 not happened. They are taking advantage of people being at home and charging them premium prices to watch s** games. Yes, I understand it’s your choice, but the more people that bow down to this nonsense, the more chance they will continue to do this and eventually start charging every game. Would you put it past them?

I have Sky and BT, and I also resent paying more. But I am fed up with streams that keep crashing, so will definitely be paying the £14.95. Hopefully the price will come down soon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well the price won't come down whilst people are willing to pay it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well I haven`t been to the pub since March, and I don`t notice the price of beer coming down. I save plenty by not paying £5 a pint London prices by not going to the pub, so why would I deprive myself of watching my club play because they are asking just under £15, when I am coming up to 72 years of age. What is the point?
I get they are ripping people off, but then everything in life is a rip of. Nobody is forcing anybody to pay. Your choice.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Right now for most people I don't think it's the money so much as the principle. The evidence for that is those perfectly willing to spend £15 but do it on charity rather than PPV.
The EPL and clubs are just trying to milk the fans, pure and simple. If the fans were to stick together and not buy the overpriced product then they'd be forced to reconsider.
For someone who always seems to have very social political leanings Sandy, the 'I can afford it' and 'it's your choice to spend' is a very market driven, almost capitalist, way of looking at it.

Well they do charge now Don, you have to pay for your sports packages, which I do with both Sky and BT. But it is a choice you can make. Nobody forces anybody to pay.
I would prefer to watch all sport for Free, but I know that is not going to happen. If people did not pay, then the clubs would probably go bust, they rely on TV money so much.
It is what it is I am afraid.

Not really mate. I want to watch football, and I have no choice, I pay for it. As I say spending money in pubs is some people`s pleasure, mine is watching Spurs. Would you advocate nobody goes to pubs, because some pubs are ripping them off?
Zero to do with political leanings, what I or anybody else spends their money on. I happen to love watching Spurs, more than I do to stop putting money in Murdochs pockets right now. Although I have chosen to stop buying newspapers.

To be clear, I don't expect football for free. It's a form of entertainment and I expect to pay for that. What I object to is the price point not being proportionate.
So no, I wouldn't advocate people don't to pubs. But I wouldn't expect people to go to a pub which charged significantly higher prices.
Netflix - £9 per month
Amazon Prime - £6 per month
Disney+ - £6 pm, Apple+ - £5 pm
Even Now TV you get a day pass for £10 for sports which is often multiple games. Or a month for £33.
Films you can rent for circa £5-£6, that's about the same length of entertainment.
They get away with charging more because they know fans will (usually) pay whatever it takes to watch their team. Which is why I've personally been so impressed that huge numbers have shunned this.
What's wrong with going to the pub...they need the trade and the box office games are free to them

If I was going to WHL to watch the match, even at the cheap prices I get, I would still probably be paying £25-£30, so still half price even for me.
In normal times, say you had three or four of your mates around, and you split the cost, would say £5 each to watch the match be to much to pay?

Nice one, was looking for a charity to donate to instead of lining their pockets further. Just donated the 14.95 and will watch it on MOTD. Hopefully everyone does the same and this will disappear quickly
Have today happily donated my £15 to the Tottenham food bank ( via just giving )
So you all know, the amount donated so far is showing at just short of £98k.
Their target is £100k, so come on guys, do your bit and at the same time refuse to line these greedy bast**ds pockets.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well they do charge now Don, you have to pay for your sports packages, which I do with both Sky and BT. But it is a choice you can make. Nobody forces anybody to pay.
I would prefer to watch all sport for Free, but I know that is not going to happen. If people did not pay, then the clubs would probably go bust, they rely on TV money so much.
It is what it is I am afraid.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not really mate.

I’d say £5 is proportionate. But to Don’s point earlier, these aren’t normal times and the EPL know that
