On paper it may sound 'good', filthy rich owner, related to Man City owners = £££

I've never been a fan of foreign ownership, so many clubs have been run incredibly badly, Portsmouth under vast Russian owners comes to mind.

I understand what Spart is trying to say as it's something I detest the UAE for- but football fans in general would look past their shockingly poor humans right record if it meant success to the club.

I'm pleased that Mel is going as he has run the club backwards for a few years now, however I worry about Philip Cocu remaining in a job and the development of our Academy players.

I agree, Desi.
If there is plenty in the coffers, it would come as no surprise to me to see Phil paid off & Rooney in charge by Christmas. 🤔

Spart was quoting from The Bible earlier, didn’t know he was a Christian. What does that book say about the sins of the father?

It'll never get ratified

We will have to see Jorv. John Percy is a reliable journalist and he reckons EFL approval is close.

Comment if the Daily Telegraph:

"more tradition and history falling into foreign hands"

and the response -

" I didn't realise Derby were part of the National Trust!"

In the UAE the sons are usually as bad as the fathers.

So you will quote The Bible when it suits and ignore it when it doesn’t? How very Donald Trump.

Steven Gerrard being touted.

Not really the time for a new manager, what with the window just having closed.

Apart from the fact that after all that he has had to contend with, to ditch Cocu at the moment that a bit of cash finally becomes available would be the ultimate kick in the teeth.

By what logic did you come up with that statement to my reply. I also quote from Shakespeare, Churchill, Oscar Wilde, Marx, Julius Caesar and numerous others because I can. The Bible is a good servant but a poor master, Lord Soper.

You ignored the question, Spart. Should the son be punished for the sins of the father? If your own parent had been a bad person, would it be reasonable to condemn you?

I don't see the relevance to this topic. The sons are just as guilty as the fathers in these Arabian dynasties.

Open sesame.

I get it, Spart. They’re all the same, these Arabs.

Arabian dynasties tend to be. Tell me a decent ruler in the Arabian peninsula and stop attempting to be clever.

Ey up.

So doing a bit of bad research looks like it's his brother Mohammed torturing Houthi rebels in the Yemen along with I presume rich Saudi allies. Why do rich men have to murder so many poor men to stay rich? 🤔

It would seem somebody needs to sort the wars in the Middle East out first. Like maybe take over their land, annex them into tiny pieces, give power to minority ethnic groups over majority, so ethnicity suddenly becomes an issue, bit like that class system thing, we used to have in the UK, to control people with. Then maybe make a deal with those newly unelected holders of power. Something like oil barrels and 'I'm sorry what are human rights? " 🤷🏻‍♂️ I can't think of any historical examples of people that have done that though? 🤔

I presume he will make the grade as fit and proper and who knows maybe mixing with us freedom loving and nurturing Rams Fans might rub off on him.

Football is a game of exploitation. That's how we have owners. In my idealist days I think I proposed a league of total spending cap under what the club revenue is, a blanket ban on commercial exploitation of the beautiful game. Universal football TV-care coverage etc etc.

The idea was that skill, investment in youth and local footballing culture and of course innovation would decide the winner as opposed to money.

I was very foolish and an annoying self righteous individual (very good looking though), in my younger days. I don't think rich men can profit from selling the soul of a club anymore. Souls endure, kings come and go.

Maybe we were meant to meet. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wellies xx
I had a couple of e-mail exchanges with Andy Appleby during his involvement. He really wanted to do something with the club, but was hamstrung by national cultures and a couple of generations. He was never going to get the soul bit.

Personally I would be happy to reappoint Clough and only sign players born in Derbyshire - and ideally the High Peak. But perhaps the game has moved on and so must we
