Looking at CKR's record as a striker (20 goals total in the last 5 seasons, 57 in a career of 16 years) and it doesn't indicate there will be any great threat. He is long past his sell by date. 3 years older than "past it" Chris Martin. Why we signed him is beyond me.

He had a header saved and Wells put in the rebound but was ruled off side. I can guarantee that Martin's contribution will be better than CKR's. Sometimes I wonder what planet some of you are on.

CKR's signing reminds me of that ridiculous signing of Eddie Lewis who couldn't hold down a place in a struggling Leeds team but was apparently good enough for the Premier League. He contributed 1 goal in 24 appearances, unfortunately in his own net.

I see no logic in the assumption that CM's leaving was purely down to finances, so I have convinced myself that personal circumstances and personalities played a large part in his decision. 🤔

3rd goal on the stroke of HT was a big punt from 5 yards behind the half-way line to the CF, one touch and bang, 1-3.

I think Martin's situation was similar to Huddlestone's. Cocu didn't see either as being in his long-term plans but thought they could be bit-part players for one more season, so they were made offers on that basis. Martin found a club with a better offer, Huddlestone hasn't yet. CKR is clearly a very short-term stopgap so I don't really see the need to compare him with Martin. We will have to see who we sign in January, assuming we do, and then we can argue whether or not he is fit to lace the boots of The Wardrobe.

Didn't we have a dedicated thread about this the other week. Or is lockdown getting to me ?

The last transfer window we seemed to do well. If Ibe and Duncan live up to expectation it could look like fantastic business. Shame if good work was overshadowed by the failure to land a quality striker and unfair to expect too much of CKR.
