Brain fart from the ref

Terrible decision

They probably should’ve had a pen first half, though need to see it again as I heard the player went down after the ball had gone

Need to see it again

Yeah he got the ball and I agree - unless it's a dangerous, out of control tackle getting the ball first is what counts.

That said I don't think Doherty's was a pen, and I'm seeing people crying about a red card.. which it couldn't be anyway considering it wasn't dangerous or whatever.

The right result on balance, though Spurs are still wildly unpredictable we're picking up points.

It got me some FPL points so i'm all for it.

No he did not "get the ball", watch the roations. He simply tripped Hojbjerg.
It was as obvious foul as you can see.
Scott should not be refereeing at this level, period!

Also...Ndombele was a lost cause today. Could not keep up the pace.
God knows when he's going to be fit.

Yeah he definitely gets a bit of the ball. It's slight, and probably still a foul in the current laws of the game, but I can see why the ref didn't give it.

Totally disagree. rotation of the ball does not change one iota.
Both commentators agreed...foul.

They're calling it a foul despite him making contact with the ball.

depends what you think "contact"is.
It is supposed to change what the ball is doing, and this "contact" did not do that.
Therefore....NO CONTACT.
Watch the rotations, they do not change.

See the second angle here Ted. Around 35 seconds. MoTD had a better angle of it. Like I say, you can call that a foul these days. And totally at first glance it's a foul. But he does touch the ball before the man.

Yeah, I've seen that and several other versions with English commentary, and that is not a touch. Some angles it looks like it is, others not.
The ball does not change rotation or direction.

I can't see a touch? it was a definite foul imo, not that it mattered in the end!

posted on 2/11/20

Yeah that angle's not great, like I say MOTD had a clearer view of it. The ref clearly saw a touch - he told Kane there was a touch on the ball, so that's why he's not given it.

The whole thing about the follow-through being a foul could come into play I guess but I think what's wound people up is the ref using VAR to review it when he had a perfect view, only to not change his mind. Is a slight touch not a touch? Was it a foul anyway? Debatable I guess.

I do have an issue with debating what constitutes a touch though, considering that defenders can obstruct play while in 'control' of a ball they haven't touched at all!

Just wait until Donald Trump loses his bid for re-election......then you'll really see a "debate".
Touching a football will pale in comparison!

Yeah I reckon you're right there, Ted.

It was the early yellow. He was frightened to get involved after that.

The delusion is so strong. Kane cheated the entire game diving embarrassingly, really distasteful to watch, Son too yet you somehow think you were wronged? That pen you were given was a joke.

Great decision from the ref, clearly got the ball despite the protestations from the ridiculously bias media. Poor ref will get panned for absolutely no reason. If you get the ball first , no foul. What are these ridiculous snowflake rules you are now using of following through? We don't want to lose crunching tackles, big part of English game

Your team are becoming unwatchable with all your antics. Lamela against united was bad enough.
