You said:

"I'm the first one to go down if I feel contact"

It's really quite simple; if you fall to the floor of your own volition, you've dived.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did I say it was from my own violation? I did not say to what extent the contact is. In fact, I actually went said I anticipate the contact by reading what the other player is going to do. I.e. A player comes in to clean me out, I take the tackle and win the foul. But I guess that's diving because I know I'm going down.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I certainly inferred it from what you said.

When you say 'I go down' it clearly implies that you went down of your own volition. Otherwise you've been knocked over, haven't you?

If that's not what you meant then fine.

Obviously not that clear to you. But I'll rephrase it and say "sufficient contact" then if that makes it easier for you to read.

Incredible that you can't see why you've made a mistake with how you've worded that.

I do!

Although the days of arguing for pages on end are behind me.

It does make me chuckle though when people just can't admit they've made a mistake. There's so much of it on here.

GT, it is 100% based on what they see professionals do. If a Spurs fan of 8 years old sees Harry Kane doing it then it's accepted and kids will more likely try it. Iv not seen it yet but I imagine it happens when kids get older/smarter.

I wish more action was taken. If Kane and Son were punished for their dives Sunday I'd have no issues at all. Would have to be consistent though.

That kind of falls into drawing the foul. Which is slightly different and something that I am sure most people have done. If you know you're going to get there just before the opposition player, then you get the touch and wait for the contact. There are obviously scales to this though. Vardy is a master at just dragging his legs so he guarantees contact with the keeper or defender.

Exactly which I wouldn't class as diving because it isn't. There is a fine line between clever play and blatant diving and sometimes people see it differently.

I actually agree about the drawing a foul part.

It's the bit where you say 'I'm the first to go down'.

A challenge either knocks you to the floor or it doesn't. When someone says 'I go down' it basically means that the challenge didn't knock you over and you made a conscious decision to go down.

I've watched my fair share of kids football over the last 4-5 years, ranging from U7's to now U11's and I've never seen a kid dive. I have seen and been on the receiving end a bit of back chat.
