Agreed, it is dubious, but when a team is as desperate as we are, you can't help but wonder. I don't even think he's that good anymore, but beggars can't be choosers.

The quality of football was also better when he was in the team pre lockdown. Not great, but certainly better than now.

I've endured enough of watching every match Ozil has played for us for 5+ years now to know that wishing something into existence doesn't make it so.

Personally, my "wondering" phase was already over several years ago and I'm 120% certain that trying to wedge Ozil into this team would be even more catastrophic than it was last season, or the one before that.

I can understand desperation leading to wishful thinking but don't let it cloud your judgement. You know, I would love nothing more than to eat my words and be proven wrong by a magical season from Ozil because we do lack creativity but in all honesty, anyone worth their salt knows the miniscule scraps of creativity he is capable of providing now would have been overshadowed by his lack of work-rate and team ethic and the goals we would have conceded from him losing possession and then starting to walk instead of run/chase back.
