I rewatched LOST on Prime recently and honestly forgot how good that show was. I think knowing everything I did, I actually enjoyed it more the 2nd time around.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
it's slightly overrated as a bizarre, mysterious ooh what do those numbers mean, but underrated as a moving character drama...and i guess everyone got p!ssed off at the ending, which i didn't mind.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The best shows are about the characters really. Pretty much every character had a fitting arch throughout the series (apart from Locke). They chose to go with the characters over the fantasy. GoT did the opposite and slaughtered everybody’s character (apart from Jorah and Theon) in the process, as well as half all of their respective IQs. I really just wish the final 2 seasons of GoT could be erased from all of our memories and the plot be handed over to writers who actually cared about giving what was initially a masterpiece, a fitting ending

Yes, the first two series of that are excellent. Series 3 was surely written on LSD.

A few suggestions Robb:

Animal Kingdom (only a few episodes in, but seem decent)

Dark

The Last Kingdom
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Animal Kingdom is great. If you get the chance watch the Australian movie which inspired it with the always amazing Joel Edgerton.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed on Wentworth too. Not quite as impressed as you, but a decent watch with the missus. I used to watch the original as a kid on my little black and white tv late at night when my parents thought I was asleep.

They should have had Richard Armitage as a dwarf Francis Dolarhyde.

Aye

Season 2 was still good but the first season just killed it.

Season 3 was horrible. I actually met Gillian Anderson a few time not long after and I actually told her! But I didn’t neglect to mention that her character was interesting and her acting excellent lol

The Boys for me best show in a while. Just watched the first season of Westworld thought that was a brilliant show.
Though have found myself watching Masterchef Australia, it’s the most stupid and ridiculous show but I can’t stop watching it.

Just watching through the new release of The Crown on NFs.

Whether the scripts are based on truth or not, you can't deny, it's well produced.

The second episode making Thatcher and Dennis out to be a pair of classless oiks on their visit to Balmoral was priceless.

That’s nothing, Eastenders had over 6000 episodes in ‘season one’.

I actually haven’t watched most of the big TV shows.

Which one is just too good to miss?

Popular ones I haven’t watched:

The wire
Breaking bad
Band of brothers
Lost
Narcos
Peaky Blinders
Billions
The west wing
House of cards

A fair few mates have pointed to The Wire. Which one out of those would you say I HAVE to watch?

your mates are right.

didn't personally enjoy band of brothers, peaky blinders is a much lamer retread of boardwalk empire, BB/Lost are well worth a watch, narcos is superbly made, but out of that list the wire is truly great.

A show I always recommend on these articles which paved the way for many of the great shows of today is Oz

In my top 5 tv shows of all time and is a treasure trove of ‘oh, he’s now famous’ actors.

Extremely and disturbingly shocking for its time and put HBO on the map.

i've tried to watch oz twice and each time failed to get to episode, a lot of it seems quite amateurish, and some of the acting is really weak (that mafia guy i remember being dreadful).

also gave up on deadwood after 3 episodes, poorly written guff.

and surely larry sanders - and hey now hank kingsley - put hbo on the map.
