I think my taste in music is good overall but I was listening to ‘What is love?’ By Haddaway recently
Arguably a shiiit song looking back

Best new song I’ve heard this year \m/
I wonder how many people eventually freeze up on their music. Meaning listening only to music that they grew up with. Not finding anything worthwhile in new music and saying stuff like "new music is shlt and they don't make em like they used to"

I've done that. Although I don't make comments like that but rather acknowledge that I'm just out of touch!
Only new music I've brought in the last couple of years has been Catfish & the Bottlemen and Royal Blood. Arguably both are quite old school in style anyway

I listen to a lot of new music but it’s pretty much all inspired by styles I’ve been listening to for 30+ years
It's common. Not going to lie. Myself i grew up with motown and the like being played all the time by my pops. My first real passion for music was throw Led Zeppelin. Then it was all classic rock. You wouldn't know i was born in the 80s by my taste in music.

I do this as well. No shame in that. Difficult to push out in music too much without it coming off like some strange drug trip followed by an alien abduction.
I only listen to old $hit, having a bit of a Paul Weller moment this week, The Jam, The Style Council and his solo stuff.
Although saying that, the new Foo Fighters single Shame is very good.

I think it's worthwhile challenging yourself once in a while. It can be very rewarding. Otherwise you are no better than a child who refuses to try something they've never had before because "nuh uh, I don't like it"

Wild Wood
What a tune
The hip hop scene has certainly dried up in recent years, if you are into actual rap. All this mumble rap genuinely has me going "how do kids listen to this". No message, story or any sort of sustance to it.
During lockdown I have found myself revisiting old classical groups and artists (fleetwood mac, elvis, the who) and current soft rock as well as 90s like oasis, stereophonics, and 90s hip hop.
Rarely listen to new music nowadays.
New albums from Tyler Bryant and Black Stone Cherry hugely helped through lockdown.
Best songwriter currently on the planet Luke Combs too.

Tbf I think I’m sometimes guilty of this
It’s not that I don’t want to hear new music, I just never get round to trying it out
I subscribed to Spotify in the summer though (got six months free) and have picked up a few bands from that

Thats the drug! Those gateway bands. With a little work and research it generally leads to bands you'd likely enjoy a hell of a lot more.
Can anyone recommend any bands to listen to. I generally like indie or rock, nothing too heavy. Some mainstream stuff is ok

1975 have a lot of songs, some good, some bad, very popular indie type band. Very versatile. Can be a bit emoish for some people though.
