You can usually tell after the Christmas/New Year fixtures if you are in the running, so I’ll wait till then!
It remains to be seen. It's entirely possible that we already have the two players you've mentioned. Rodon may turn out to be the CB we need, and I think between N'Dombele, Lo Celso, and arguably Dele and possibly Lamela, we have the 'lockpicker' type of creative players within our ranks.
That said, there's still room to strengthen in January. Both of my above examples are somewhat hopeful 'best case scenarios'.
Next 5 games will tell us if we can challenge.
Jose needs to have the balls to play GLC and Ndombele together against teams who will sit back. No need to have Sissoko in the team when PEH can sit.

Yeh correct. You reckon Jose a little cautious? By playing Sissoko
lots of wins and goals friends
I think we are well covered in the CB area with our main two being Toby and Dier with Sanchez, Tanganga, Rodon and Davies able to cover.
For me CM is our weakest area. If PEH or Sissoko get injured we will lightweight again in that area. Winks and GLC could step in but it is not good enough for me.
As for creativity, I think we are well stacked with Ndom, GLC, Lamela or Dele. And of course Kane who has become more creative than Van Gogh lately.
He should be called Tele Alli now as that's what he'll be watching most of the season.

I agree with this. Given that you have already beaten City, I would suggest that if you take a minimum 9 points from your next 5 games then you are in play for a challenge.
Liverpool for me though remain a cut above everyone else.

I don't think it's about having balls, I think it's about managing both players fitness.
He's been rotating them atm to build their fitness. There's no point playing them together and having one of them breaking down.
I think José prepares for the full 90min+ game, so he's not just picking the best 11 to start, he's selecting a side with fitness/subs in mind to compete for the full duration.
Secondly, I fear that we don't have the creativity to break teams down in those tight games against the so called "lesser teams". Ndombele will develop into that player surely but, like Dier, is not quite there yet. I would have loved to have had a motivated Eriksen to choose from although I am not really sure if he'd make the first 11.
____:____:___________________________________
This is my view. Its also been a problem for all Jose teams in the past 5 or 6 seasons. With your current midfield options I think Jose will have to consider being ultra aggressive with your full backs to try and compensate for the lack of creativity in your midfield. He has never been comfortable attacking with two FBs in the past, but he may ha eto change that mindset.
we need an upgrade on Sissoko before a 'playmaker'.
someone to do his job but also far far better on the ball.
we have Lamela, Dele and maybe even Lucas to get rid of to make room for a top playmaker. Playing with wingers like we do now means either the 2nd winger to Son needs to produce a lot more in terms of output towards goals or you need a box to box midfielder who is creative, Ndombele and Lo celso are both at the club and have that skill set.

Eriksen is a available in January.
But that’s none of my business.
Nice balanced thoughts OP. I share much of them.
I think we have a very decent squad, a lot of options and as the season grinds on this will stand us in good stead.

Because Jose likes another disciplined CM next to PEH, GLC and NDombele dont fit there so well. I'd love to see GLC next to PEH.
If we do play with effecively 2 DMs then the Sisokko upgrade is essential. Someone more dynamic. I hoped we'd look at Dacoure of Wattford but Everton paid a lot for him - That type of player though. That said, Sisokko was very good vs City.
CM you say? This should make a few people horny..
#thfc have made their interest in signing Marcel Sabitzer known several times with a transfer conceivable. The player is keen to play @PremierLeague football. [Sport Bild]
You do have to wonder if Eriksen regrets leaving?
The worry for me is that we are more reliant on Kane than ever before. With him missing we don’t have a 10 with long distance creativity, also I worry about us without Alderweireld. For us to truly challenge I think we need those two fit almost the whole season.

We might do ok without them for a bit. You never know. Look at how Liverpool have kept things going with their injuries.
If there is enough belief in the team then I would trust the team to keep getting the wins even without our best players.
1. Fast Experienced CB
2. Upgrade on Sissoko. Strong, Technical player with good fitness.

Does he play wide now for Leipzig cause ive heard that somewhere
Rodon might be long term solution for option 1
Would have liked to sign a player like Brozovic to replace Sissoko.

something that isn't getting spoken about enough is that Hugo needs to get back to the shot stopping level he was at the last 2 seasons

Post Shot Expected Goals +/- per 90 is how many goals you're conceding compared to what you would be expected to based on the quality of the shots you're facing. A positive number means you're conceding fewer goals than you'd be expected to, a negative means you're conceding more than you'd be expected to.
Lloris 18/19 +0.34
Lloris 19/20 +0.36
If you're still confused essentially this means that lloris was keeping out an extra goal every 3 games more than you would have expected him to given the shots he was facing.
If that doesn't sound like a lot, it is. In De Gea's lauded 17/18 season he hit +0.21 per 90.
Lloris 20/21 -0.12
If that doesn't sound that bad, it is. It's about where Jordan Pickford was at last season.
