Who is the British GOAT?
Surprised anybody has to seriously ask this question who knows about football.
George certainly lived up to his surname.

What other questions do you know all the answers too?

I’m surprised Don hasn’t said Pogba.
I’m even more surprised Baz hasn’t said he’s surprised that Don hasn’t said Pogba.

silly boy, the thread is specifically about british players.
now, if it had been about players of any nationality to have played in britain...
Zidane: "Scholes is the best player in the world and I am a bald cant"
Can't argue with that.

Geoff Hurst
Bobby Charlton
Roger Hunt
Kenny Dalglish
George Best
It can be any of those in my opinion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Best is somewhat of a press folk hero but not the GOAT.
RJC
And also the British GOAT footballer was also a boyhood Wolves fan.
Goes to show how poor British football is when there’s no clear winner. However I think just by the highlights and the way people talk, it has to George Best. Shame he was born early and he played in the 50’s and not let’s say the 80’s. But a young Rooney had all the potential to have that claim as well.
Wilshere could’ve been another...gone to soon

Best is a clear a winner as any nationality.
Brazil - Pele is pretty well the GOAT
Argentina - Messi, Maradona and Di-Stefano
France - Platini and Zidane
Italy - Maldini, Baggio, Baresi
Germany - Beckanbauer , Mattheus, Muller
Holland - Cruyff is again a clearish winner
Spain - Xavi, Iniesta, plus a few more are close

Scholes is a cheat as he once punched the ball into the gol n did not demand the ref disallow it.
This negate everything good about him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Guess that wipes out Maradona from the list immediately then.

I would say it has to be goalkeeper. Britain has had some absolutely outstanding goalkeepers in its history, and it has been a position that the British best is right up there with the world’s best goalkeepers.
In no particular order...
Swift
Banks
Jennings
Shilton
Hibbs
Clemence
Southall
Seaman
Surely Sir Bobby Charlton is the GOAT !!
