Bottom line is Giroud (in position) would have buried both of those headed chances
Question is would he have been in position...we'll never know because Frank lacked the bottle to swap them at HT when he should have
----------------------------------------------------------------------

There is absolutely no evidence to support that at all.

They weren't easy chances and claims I've seen on some social media sites, from Tammy haters, claiming them to be 'Sitters' are laughable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
come off it Brum...they were gilt edged chances that Giroud buries...look at the chance he took v Rennes

I'd fancy him to take at least one of those..& as likely both if he's in the right place...stunning crosses
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're really comparing those chances to the one against Renne!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No..the one against Rennes was much more difficult (for Giroud)
Do you think Tammy would have scored that...i'd doubt it
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry Sheriff, no where near as hard in my opinion.

Giroud had a far earier chance in injury time and fluffed it. Am I going to blame him for it - of course not, that's football and things don't always happen the way you want!!

Just seems to me, now Kepa is out the way, people are looking for another scapegoat!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
well...we will not be in alignment on this then Brum...

Would Giroud have made those runs to get to those crosses...I don't know

would he have scored at least one of them, if not both...likely i'd say as he's a step up with his head than Tammy

Re Giroud's late chip effort...ok yeah not great...was it easier...I don't believe it was, but we've seen him score worldy's before
Would Tammy have scored that chance...possibly but I wouldn't put a whole lot on it...CHO maybe

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Difficult chance, but it was on Giroud's stronger foot. Of all our strikers I would fancy Werner to convert that type of chance.

Giroud's contributions shouldn't be overlooked and he's made me re-think my opinion of him from 12 months ago but I still personally don't think he's as effective when he starts games.

Essentially though, they're both different players who both bring different things to the party.

I think had it been me, I'd have swapped then around the half hour mark to change things round and give the $purs defence something else to think about but I still find it ludicrous to claim that we'd have been 2-0 up if Giroud had been on the pitch when James put his crosses in!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, I agree. Nobody knowsfor sure.

I am however frustrated that as a team we are not capitalising enough I'd RJs crosses. He is such a threat with his delivery and we must start putting more of his crosses in the net.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Werner needs to be on the end of these surely...starts attacks a tad deep at times for me still
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's because he isn't playing as a 9,Tammy is.

He also scored in a similar situatipn

The one he missed, he still got good contact on, but it went the wrong side of the post

All players miss chances, like all goalkeepers fluff simple saves from time to time - it's the nature of the game!

Need to move on from it and look forward to the next game now!

Agree Brum. The only problem I had is that Sunday was quite evidently a giroud game. There were several last year that I thought were too and we always ended up dropping points in those games. But it’s done now, wasn’t the worst result in the world and I think showed up spurs and showed they’re not as good as people are making out

It's pretty obvious to me is that Werner is the most natural finisher of he three strikers. I hope we get see a run of games with Pulisic Werner and Ziyech/CHO up front.

I think if Pulisic can strike up a relationship with Werner then the two will be able to interchange and their combined pace should cause teams real problems.

Among #CFC players with >500 mins in all comps this season, Tammy Abraham is

1st for Goals/90
2nd for Assists/90
(therefore 1st for G+A/90)
1st for xG/90 (excl. penalties)
2nd for xG+xA/90 (excl. penalties)

To be fair...his figures are better tahn he seems to be doing...I am doing him a disservice...but he just doesn't instill enough confidence in my is all

Harping back to yesterday's conversation...the chances he's missing are glaring at times...(mind you Werner could be in that list too...lets see how he does tonight...assuming he's selected
