Last chance, last minute...
jesus, we made a right hash of that break didn't we
FT 2-1
That bottom half is beginning to bunch up above 19th.
Well that was truly an awful watch. Nuno made an absolute pigs ear of that from start to finish.
Should have been a back four, should have not played Moutinho AND Neves together. Should have had a striker. They all looked garbage, hard to give anyone much more than a 4, even Kilman looked poor for the first time.
Not good but an excellent thread, when’s Raul back FFS
Not good enough that. Conceding those type of goals to a team that couldn't buy a goal before, and not creating a single clear cut chance against bottom 3 side.
Can’t play Neves and Mutty together for sure

If you default to defending on your 18 yard line whenever you lose possession against a team that plays the percentages; you allow them to play to their strengths and just pump the ball into the box. It's no surprise that they managed to score a few with how we set up.
Pretty sure this is going to be our season, a couple of decent performances and a couple of rubbish ones, repeat . . .

I question whether the problem is those two playing together or the tactics we play with. Our central midfield is ineffective most of the time now, regardless of who plays. We never win second balls and rarely get anyone to support the forwards. We are basically a man light in the middle every single game.
For me Neves is a shadow of the player he was. When did he last play a decent forward pass. Sadly he's aided by Mountinho who looks like he's in his last season as a player.
Why does Traore always stop with the ball, wait till he has two in front of him and then try something. When did he last actually run down the wing.
No wonder the defence is all over the place, Nuno switches it around every match.
Burnley are the ugliest side in the prem and the sooner they go down the better. Dyche gets all the plaudits, but lets face it its the original up and under kick ball.
We must do better.
We just played 5 at the back without a striker against Burnley.
This must be a low point for Nuno.

Tend to agree Tam. Pointswise we're doing OK, but that's mainly because, apart fro one or two exceptions (Sheffield and Liverpool) everyone else is not that much good

To be fair he isn't alone in this, Podence and Neto also do it and the wing backs often times. I think it is a lot to do with the fact that they are not supported by the midfield so are left to create something themselves.
Very frustrating and a big part as to why our attacks slow to a halt. We have the players so no idea why we can't do neat one twos in and around the box rather than bringing things to a stand still.
Only one good thing came out of that game, Silva got his goal, never mind it was a penalty, he took it well.

Our whole game is to slow the tempo down. We always rely on Neto, Traore or Podence to take a man on or we won't create anything. We have very little off the ball movement around the final third so just go backwards and sideways.
It frustrates the hell out of me.
Questions
Whatever happened to the Ruben Neves that the top 6 clubs were licking their lips over 2 seasons ago?
When did Moutinho lose the ability to take a proper corner?
Has Patricio go laryngitis? If not why the feck doesn't he call "keepers ball" when his centre backs are getting in his way?
Why did Nuno play Kilman on the right of a back 3 when he always plays on the left but Saiss has played on the right before?
Why has Nuno not learned from teams like Burnley that you cannot break down a packed defence by passing it around 30 yards out when goals come by raining in crosses and getting 3 or 4 players to make runs into the area?
Who decided that you can score from a corner when you have 3 players by the corner flag and 3 in the far corner of the penalty area?
I could go on but what's the point. This team is a million miles from a top 6 regular place. Still a huge amount of work to do.
