He's managed in Scotland for 3 seasons and not won a single trophy. He's the longest serving trophy less manager in Rangers history.
Does that kind of C.V get you the Arsenal job?

On top of that, the amount they've spent and the amount of players they've signed, you'd expect them to eventually win it. When a manager like Lennon can win the league there, its not much of a meter to gage the manager's ability.
Yes please, that would be funny
A good indicator for Rangers' success would be their European performance. Although it's only the EL, that's now twice they've progressed out of the Group Stages, that's not a bad achievement considering the recent history of Scottish clubs in Europe either.
Although Gerrard isn't the manager for the job. An experienced manager is needed with a good pedigree. Ralf Rangnick would be a decent option.

Well he's spent considerably less than they team with most resources every summer he's been here so credit where it's due his signing policy has been a success and he's closed a gap which should have got larger.
Not that it matters until he wins something.

It's pretty run of the mill for a decent level Rangers team to get out of the Europa group stages tbh. It would have been seen as a disaster under past Rangers teams not to qualify.
He's done well to lead a team with no experience in Europe through twice in 3 years though, undoubtedly.

Might mean Liverpool wouldn’t have the heart to batter us in our fixtures, so there’s a positive!
Relegation battle will be a step down for Stevie
Gerrard could probably lace up his boots and walk into an Arsenal lineup today, judging on current form.

Yeah, look at his results in Europa, which are probably more of an indication of where he has Rangers. Getting results at home and away to Benfica and getting Rangers to the knock out stages two years in a row is a decent achievement. The football he is playing is hardly free flowing/eye catching but looks ruthlessly efficient.
He isn't ready for the Arsenal job, but I reckon he'd do a better job than Arteta.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is free flowing eye catching.
I watch every game, we are as entertaining as we have been since we had big money in the early 00s
Rangers are a bigger club than Arsenal when it comes to real fans not likes on social media from Asia/Africa etc though.

I'd agree Rangers should be making it out of the Group Stages for who they are, but in respect to who they are competing with, the finances in Scotland, the quality of league and the quality of player, that's a pretty good achievement for the recent European history of Scottish football.

Hardly surprising, considering all the London-based clubs all the way down the football pyramid.
There's at least 30 fully professional sides. And more than double that number of semi-pro/amateur sides.
Allegiances are obviously going to be spread a bit thin on the ground.
I wouldn't have Gerrard at Liverpool in a few years time. Let him prove himself in the premier league or championship. It would work only if there was continuity of personnel with key coaches like Pep and analysts. He would want to bring his own people.
He plays Klopps tactics in the league and Benitez in Europe at this moment which points to someone who knows the strengths of his players and adapts to the situation.
Gerrard's doing a good job. He's got a promising career ahead of him.
Tough to judge Gerrard really. They’ve done well this season but before that they’ve faltered often when it mattered. Rangers play nice football though and from what little I’ve seen rely on fullback play - Tierny/Saka are capable unsure about the other side.

Celtic should have made it so that they couldn't be caught. They took their foot off the ball.
He has helped improve the team, though this seems to have been coming. The good thing is that he has been given time and Rangers have been a bit more sensible with the types of signings they have made more so than not recently.
I still think going to Arsenal would see him fail. They have made worse signings more so than not. They need quite a overhaul to get back to CL places. It's also hard to gauge his ability. Lennon had won a lot in Scotland and we know he's not a top coach. He's even done well in Europe at times for Celtic. And no one would suggest him coming in for Arsenal.

Better than Arteta, yeah I'd agree with that.
You can't possibly compare the two.
Lampard inherited a better squad and was able to spend a fortune in the Summer.
Arteta walked into a nightmare situation and managed to win an FA Cup with a weaker squad beating Pep & Frank along the way followed by the Community shield. Genuinely do not think Lampard is any better and would have sunk far sooner had he been trying to deal with the crisis that Arteta is attempting to fix.
