I mean they had 3 years to work out they had been lied to and then still voted Tory.

It didn’t help that they had been told the labour leader was a Marxist, but it’s still unforgivable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
People will vote for who the media tells them to.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Like the Guardian and Mirror and not forgetting the hopelessly left leaning BBC?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How much readership do those two papers/websites have compared to the rest?
BBC isn't left or Right. They were very anti-Labour and Corbyn but pro EU. Gave the Tories an easier ride in their reporting than Labour during the last few years.

Do people not get that

A) it's not a deal until they publish

B) it's then not a deal until both sides agree

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well after saying the army should be on the streets enforcing Corona virus restrictions and even suggesting those not complying should be shot (despite breaking them himself); he is now encouraging people to break the restrictions over Christmas.

So he is still a hypocritical, ignorant knobhead. Unfortunately I don't go into tier 4 until boxing day, so I have to see him on Christmas Day.

What rot, the Labour party is in crisis at the moment with Starmer struggling to control the Corbynistas anger at his loss of the whip.

Turn on the news and you wouldn't have a clue, its going virtually unreported.

The media should spend more time reporting on the opposition 4 years from an election; rather than actually reporting on what the elected government are doing.

They (BBC and the right wing press) like Starmer. He isn't left wing. He's a centrist. The right and centre of the party are trying to get rid of the Left, hence those who were left are being dealt differently to that of the right. The party has been at war with itself when they did elect Corbyn as a leader.

Also, there has been little in the news about the rise of Islamaphobia in the Labour Party in the news. Virtual silence on the issues that barely made the news this time last year about the Tories own issues with Islamaphobia (and ironically silence on their own anti-semitism).

Of course theres plenty going on but surely 4th or 5th story in a news bulletin is fair enough when our opposition is in meltdown.

Rather that than a black out.

UK claiming 43% victories of 65 subject negotiations when in reality they just agreed with what the EU was willing to give.

posted on 24/12/20

The UK needs this deal more than the EU. We have a big single market were we can sell our goods.

If the UK wants to be part of it they need to pay or otherwise adios amigos.

Same here but luckily Arsenals form is keeping him quite down in the mix.

That said I'm sure when a few whiskies have gone down he'll let everybody know where they are going wrong in life.

Of course, Arab. Labour have lost huge amounts of voters to identity politics.

Not wishing to be crass, but what do you think is more important to someone who desperately needs to put food on the table for a family of four, unemployment or trans rights?

I'm not saying that jobs aren't important for Labour, but they have obviously done a horrendously poor job of getting that message across to white rural and working classes.

This is not just an issue in UK politics either. The same or similar can be said of the U.S. and a lot of Europe.

At least yours likes football. Mine hates all sport. I have nothing to talk to him about, so will end up just trying to avoid talking to him all day.

One of his daughters (sister in law) has gone similar as well. Really extreme with all her views and spends her time moaning about 'lefties' and sharing stuff from weird websites. She was the one who shared a news story from a spoof site about Corbyn attending a vigil for Hans Gruber, the terrorist from Nakatomi Plaza; saying how disgusted she was.

I will have to spend my time avoiding her too. I have no idea how my wife came out of that family so sane to be honest.

Hopefully your wife will reward your tolerance, I'm assuming she is aware of her fathers failings?

My missis has just completed (and passed) the first section of a course that will enable her to change career. Obviously this is very important to her and inevitably she conveyed her pleasure at getting over the first hurdle to her family.

My FIL responded by offering the encouraging words that "she only had to turn up to pass" even though only 7 out of 15 people who started have made it this far.

Nice fella!!

Good news, of a sort, but there are lots of questions.

1) What, if anything, will be better than it was before? The perennial question. There must be something, surely?

2) A couple of nights ago I read that no deal would happen without a "significant shift" from the EU. The next night a deal was imminent. Did the EU shift or did the UK?

3) What does this do to the narrative, popular among some remainers, that Johnson was always trying to achieve a no deal scenario?

4) Isn't this outcome just going to annoy both remainers and leavers? The former will say that we were better off before and the latter may feel betrayed that we still have ties to Europe? Or, to put it another way, has the whole thing just been pretty pointless?

Spoiler, we would have been better off in the EU.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Remain Cameron and Osborne should have sold that, rather than say recession would happen right away and 500,000 people would lose jobs on June 22nd 2016, if they dared vote a certain way.
.....

You’ll never blame this on remain. Sorry.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You can blame it on Cameron though. Called the referendum to try and solidify Tory power for another decade.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
100% this. He simply thought he couldn’t lose, arrogant little toad that he was. You do have to wonder how many people voted leave just to stick two fingers up to him.
