Potential 6 pointer?

Will Sam play a 6-4-0 again, if so we have no hope.

Hope Pablo makes and appearance.

WBA will be full of new found confidence after their point at Liverpool so I expect this to be as tough as Burnley and fingers crossed another narrow win.

20 pts needed.

Hope Klich gets booked tomorrow, that would potentially give him a few weeks to recharge his batteries before the Brighton game.

The way West Brom played against Liverpool was nothing like the way Burnley played against us.

Burnley pressed us in our own half and we just couldn't cope (in the second half). Their press was not particularly impressive which makes it quite worrying how much we struggled. Was very similar to West Ham game in that regard. I do think the pitch is partly responsible but we need to adapt. (West Brom is away thankfully). But it's down to some players not been great in the build up phase. These are Alioski, & Dallas. Klich also had a few poor games but normally good enough. This is to be expected at this stage of our development. A key signing will be a LB & CM to play along side Klich and as an alternative when he could with a rest.

If West Brom play similar to the way they did against Liverpool the above will not be much of a problem. There was no interest in pressing opposition in their half at all. Our difficulty will be trying to create an opportunity in such tight spaces. A problem Liverpool really struggled with too. And also we will have to stay alert at the back for a sucker punch.

Burnley stopped us dominating the game. I cant see West Brom doing the same, I doubt they will have any interest in trying to tbh.

Pablo should be on from the start for this game.
If they play like they did against Liverpool there’ll be little space with the defence packed. That’s ideal for Hernandez to have time and space to do his thing without having to use lots of energy.

1-1 or 2-1 either way, difficult to call. Would give Pablo a start

Allerdyce in charge, key players missing for both sides, tired legs and minds, this has all the makings of a forgettable scrap with few chances and plenty of endeavour. 0-0.

Draw wouldn’t be a bad result for us after Burnley win.
Keep coming back to set pieces but only got to look at Ajayi and wonder how we will cope

Keeper more commanding at crosses for Burnley game.
Ayling seemed to remember you don’t have to win the header, just disrupt the attacker.
West Brom better than woods and Barnes ?

At least kickoff is not at 4:00am like Sunday’s game!

Morning all👍😁.

Ok, looking forward to Bielsa pitting his wits against the bus-parking Big Sam ... methinks it will be attrition rather than ‘wham-bam’ but I’m going for 0-2, Paddy and Dallas👍😁💙🏆

Said before i would have changed how we are defending set pieces and at least added a second free man. Probably Raphinha to attack the ball. But Bielsa said he wasn’t going to change it. Just make them better. And against Burnley it definitely looked like we had improved a lot. Now one swallow doesn’t make a summer but it was a good sign.

Another ugly game I think. Does Sam play any other way?

I’ll go 2-1 Leeds.

Nice goal Villa scored last night whilst an opponent was down injured

It was better. However Phillips dropping deeper made for other problems in midfield. We couldn’t control anything in the centre at all. I’ve never seen us so bad second half.

Don't think that had any effect on set pieces stoopo.

But yes agree we were shocking on the ball second half. Similar to West Ham. Phillips would have been better playing where Klich was in possession. Rodrigo is also not an 8 so when we are struggling that shows. When we are dominating it doesn't really matter, it's the work in our own half that we miss with him. He was definitely signed a 9. But I think the biggest reason for us struggling like that is our full backs. Dallas & Alioski struggle with the intricate build up play required when sides press us high and wide. Dallas copes better on the left actually when he comes inside more often but still needs to be improved for next season.

Bartley and Ajayi yes they are better. Wood is pretty underwhelming at setpieces for such a tall guy.

I think with Phillips playing so deep, Klich was not getting the ball in the places where he could work with it. His game is about short passes, keeping the movement going, switching the direction of play. Just the sort of player to struggle on that quagmire of a pitch against Burnely. I expect him to be much more influential against the Baggies.
