Gnev some it up perfectly.

Can we please get this two week circuit breaker thing off the table . The players would have to carry on mixing and training to be ready in 2 weeks for a match. They may get 4-5 days off. What is that going to do . Would have to be a long break to do anything meaningful!

So next game is new years day now!?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep 12.30 V Leeds.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Leeds game is on 2nd January, not NYD, if I'm not mistaken.

I was a bit annoyed at first, when I heard the news, because I was all ready to watch the match tonight - and love a bit of festive footie. But then, as others have said, we've not exactly been scintillating to watch of late, so perhaps no bad thing.

Then again, Fulham at home would have been an easier match - on paper - to recover form than Leeds at home.

Not sure it needed be announced three hours before kick-off, either. Rumours were swirling around y'day evening, so why not announce it then?

I assume the revised match will be on Amazon Prime? The only reason I re-signed up to that service was for these December matches.

Said it after the City game called off. If you can't fulfill your fixture, then you forfeit. Simple as.

These people have the absolute best facilities provided to them to ensure games continue, including regular testing, controlled exclusive no expense spared bubbles. Things me and you are not able to have.

Not being uncaring but a large % of infections are down to people refusing adhere to reasonable social distancing laws and refusing to make any sort of sacrifices in their day to day lives.

We all know some are not even prepared to wear a mask when going out and about. To me, that's just doing the basics.

If it gets into a club, it is because it is brought there by players or staff who are not keeping their distance from others and adhering to the rules.

I agree footie without crowds is horrible, but do we all want to go back to months of FA Cup classics being re run on Sky or BT Sport as our only way of watching footie ?

Much more of these cancelled games, and that's where we will be for the next god knows how many months.

How would we all like it if we get the Brentford game played, beat them, only for the whole season to be cancelled and no League Cup final 2020/21 in the record books. Think on that for a minute.

I agree the team who has the issue should forfeit a 3-0 loss.

I actually agree with a lot of that.

If a fixture can still be fulfilled with a combination of under 23s/ reserves and a sprinkling of first team players it should go ahead.

The football calendar is going to get itself in a complete mess if we see many more cancelled fixtures.

I also agree that clubs should forfeit the 3 points if they can't get a matchday squad together for a PL fixture.

Apparently there were 18 positive tests from the latest round of testing. That included Man City players, a large number of Sheffield Utd players (who still played their game) and Southampton players, plus a few from Arsenal. How many players from Fulham tested positive? If it's upwards of six, I can start to understand how fulfilling a fixture is impossible. But if it's three or four, I think a game could still go ahead.

None of this is easy, and of course limiting Covid should be the ultimate goal, but is strange how some clubs are doing a much better job of keeping it at bay than others. The numbers have been kept very low, by and large, and I guess the question is how cases are slipping through the very controlled environment that the Prem has been operating under since June. Maybe Karl Robinson is right and clubs have become sloppy?

Anyway, some clarity on the issue - how many players need to be out of action to warrant a postponement, which players from which teams have tested positive, how are protocols being adhered to - would help.

Don't agree you have to fulfill a fixture if your squad gets hit by covid.

Imagine the outrage if Son and Kane got it and we had to play.

Also, when someone gets covid it is not necessarily their fault. The players could adhere perfectly to rules and get it. Their kids still go to school, wives will have their own lives etc.

I'm unsure on what the thresholds for postponement are though. Is it a number of first teamers?

I don't think the postponements have been thought through as clearly as saying "This club have x amount of players with covid so the game is cancelled"

This seems like a basic requirement and clubs should not be able to use covid as an excuse to postpone a game.

Be matter what the clubs do at the training ground etc when the players leave the confines of the clubs protective bubble, even going to the garage to fill up or a shop for food they are at risk of catching the virus, frustrating but almost inevitable some will succumb?

No, teams should be forced to fulfil their fixtures and if the opposing club then succumbs to mass infection then it's hard shizzle.

Football is far more important than a view deaths here and there.

It amazes me that this virus has been around for nearly a year and people still don’t understand the basic principles of what a virus is.
