dont think a change of management will make a big difference to be honest.
DERRY:
I really do think it would. Feel mismanagement at the team and IFA level has been responsible for a lot of our woes.
You could argue that our player pool is just as good if not slightly better than when we were putting the Anglos, the Spaniards, the Swedes, etc. to the sword in quick succession, so it looks like the fault lies elsewhere than with the players.
As I mentioned above , there are a lot of competent, proven, professionals with NI connections. Many of them ex NI players who could be given a shot at the job.
I dont want to get into slanging NW too much when hes not here to stand up for himself, but I have found some of his managerial decisions, particularly against the Faroes(away), Poland and Slovakia, to be puzzling to say the least. Also, one minute he wont pick St. Pat coz he thinks hes too lazy and the next minute hes naively talking about building a team round the Derry Pele! All very worrying!
If its not broken leave it, but if it is, then do something rather than just watch it go down the drain! Time for NW to go!
Jimmy Quinn would be good with the 'big German' Maik Taylor as his assistant ,total pro.
MAJESTY:
Agree with Jimmy Quinn and Maik. Quinn is grossly underrated. One of our best ever players! Still deeply revered around Reading and Bucharest!
Also, now that it looks like Wenger may be finally chucking it in, his long time assistant, ex NI player Pat Rice, could maybe be tempted by something different. He must have gleaned a wealth of Knowledge at the highest level with Arsenal over the last 40 years and is known to be an NI supporter.
Another one is big Chris Nichol, an ex NI/Southampton centre back who is well thought of in coaching circles.
Another one who has already professed interest is Danny Wilson, ex NI player who for a while worked wonders at Barnsley with very limited resources much to Michael Parkinson's delight!
There is no shortage of interested, outstanding candidates. The problem is Nige seems determined to hold on to the job come what may even if it means having to write numerous letters of support to himself! More worryingly he seems to have succeeded in enlisting support from various donkeys in the IFA.
Time to move over and give someone else a chance Nige!
Welcome back Shen , place has been quieter without you to be honest.
Think NW shouldve went a long time ago. He obviously lost the support of the dressing room and has the personality of a bit of cardboard.
Pat Rice is a great suggestion , the wealth of experience the guy has is unreal , albeit in a assistants role but never the less , hes worked with Wenger for a long time. Imagine the training ground techniques the guy has. Hopefully install some good short passing to go along with the typical hoof it tactics
ALEX:
Thanks Alex! If Wenger leaves Arsenal, I dont think Pat will be that interested in continuing there. I believe he has done some work for the IFA before, so maybe he could be tempted. As a player he was, as they say, a natural leader. He has always had the widespread respect of his fellow professionals. Could be the man to help us realise our potential and bring back a winning attitude to the team.
I hope so Shen , we need new ideas and a complete overhaul of the IFA while we are at it. I believe we have the potential to trouble teams. We need to make Windsor a place for teams to fear on a cold rainy night in winter again.
"Really good article", he lied.
I have a few problems with it however.
1. The words.
2. The "sentence" structures.
3. The rambling monotone nature of the way that the words are used to form what could loosely be described as "sentences".
4. The fact that the actual content of the "sentences" seems to be a slavering partisan diatribe not fit to be read by any individual even with a passing acquaintance with an educational system of the basest kind.
It seems to me that this poor chap dodged school for the local boxing gym. Unfortunately failed to keep his left up and suffered damage by taking repetitive hits to the head.
Sadly the prognosis for this is lamentable. You have my sympathies.
CINDERELLAMAN:
Seems like you're looking for a fight. I suggest you take it down to your regular night school creative writing tutorial where no doubt the more enlightened members regularly scoff up their sleeves at your ridiculous elitist comments attempting to link reading propriety and educational systems.
Such comments are of course typical of the products of ONE particular local education system which seems to be stuck into a sort of scholastic, medieval time warp, amongst other things. This has unfortunate consequences for the rest of society which it seems just has to grin and bear it.
My advice above about the night class would serve you much better than going around getting the late great Jim Braddock a bad name. Incidentally, if Jimmy were around he could tell you that repeatedly, "keeping your left up", is the sign of a distinctly amateur boxer, not to mention 606 commentator!
Believe me, you dont really want to take me on. You're far from being ready for me! Now hurry up, your going to be late for that tutorial!

-----------------------------------
erm... its just that if you type the following...
"keeping your left up" boxing
into google you get 78,000,000 hits. - that is seventy-eight million to you punchy
It is obviously such a foreign aspect of orthodox boxing approaches for right-handed boxers, that it is mentioned in 78,000,000 web articles.
78,000,000 is probably also the amount of times that you were hit on the head for your grey matter to spew the poorly written rabid drivel that you force upon the rest of us.
"Believe me, you dont really want to take me on."
I wonder punchy did you say that to the better boxers who obviously turned what little brain matter you had to mush?
Why is it when I think of you, you remind me of the character "danger" from the film Million Dollar Baby?
He was just such a pitiful fool with no real sense of how pathetic he really was. You have my sympathies.
Wow, what looked like another epic battle petered out with a Shen like whimper?
No Cockpit general retort? No exrep put down? No I remember the halcyon shipyard days? Come on my proud Irish Ulsterman show us some of that bravado that took them on the somme and the fields of belgium!!!
Wow, what looked like another epic battle petered out with a Shen like whimper?

certainly wasnt Ray Leanard vs Hagler
CINDERELLAMAN:
Ah Cindy, is that the best you can do? And after such a long time too! Had a bad night down at the creative writing tutorial, did we? Was some nasty, beastly man giving your adverbial clauses a good rattling? Probably one of those horrible Prods.
So, if you type, "keeping your left up, boxing" into Google you get 780,000 hits! Im not the least surprised as its one of the most worn adages in boxing. You can hear all the oldtimers shouting it all the time down at the club. I'll let you into a little secret. If you type in "jab" or "left hook" Im sure you'll be able to net a lot more hits, over a million at least. No doubt your nerdish computer mindset will find the prospect really titillating.
The thing is Old Son, tapping things into Google is not really the ideal way of finding out the inside story on boxing. Especially if, as you did, you type in the wrong prompt. What you should have typed in was REPEATEDLY keeping your left up". This would have accurately reflected my orginal claim that REPEATEDLY keeping your left up is often the sign of a distinctly amateur boxer and may not always be the appropriate thing to do. "Repeatedly" is the key word.
Listen carefully and I'll explain. "Keeping your left up", generally means maintaining a classic, orthodox stance/guard(COS). This is something that all boxers learn early in their training. It is almost the only stance employed in amateur boxing. This is for a variety of reasons, not least being the general lack of punitive body punching in the amateurs resulting in the head being the main, and often, only target. When you observe professional boxing you will see the COS is still there, but significantly you will notice other stances/guards as well, eg. "Cross Arm", "Peek a Boo", "Shoulder Roll", "Zero/Low", etc. This variety reflects the significant differences between amateur and professional boxing. Putting it very simply, pro boxing is more complex, demanding and dangerous. Pros need to be more flexible, they need to switch and mix styles and they need to protect their abdomens. To the professional eye, many amateur boxers keep their left guard hand too high as they are mainly concerned with protecting their head rather than their body. This failing has two big drawbacks: It leaves their lower abdomen open; It can interfere with the correct delivery of the all important jab. Both these drawbacks could be cruelly punished in the pro ranks! Consequently, a pro boxer who persists exclusively with a basically upright COS is often seen as retaining rather amateurish traits which may not be in his best interests.
Of course, "Keeping your left up" is an impossible scenario anyway because with left hand boxers the right hand, not the left, will naturally become the guard hand. Moreover, you will notice that many of the very top boxers carry their hands low for a lot of the time(Zero Guard), eg. Mohd. Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Mayweather, etc. They are not doing this because they think it looks "classy". They are doing it for sound professional reasons. They would not appreciate your calls for them to "Keep your left up"!
Moving on to the non boxing elements of your post:
"That is seventy-eight million to you punchy" >>>>>>>>>> rather feeble, embarassing and essentially juvenile jibe. I'll pretend I didnt see it.
Regarding better boxers turning my brain matter to mush. Sad to see you resorting to such hurtful and aggressive comments. This has obviously become one of your secret fanatasies. Sorry to spoil your illicit, "mushy" pleasures, but I should point out the following: I had a 100% professional record of 5-5-0-0 with 5 KOs; I have never been put down or given a count; I was very rarely hit with meaningful punches. All my bouts finished relatively early.
Regarding "Million Dollar Baby" and its characters. I have no interest in such films. Im quite content to leave the voyeurism to you. However, they do explain where you got your rather naive knowledge of boxing from. Seen "Rocky 24", have you?
"poorly written drivel which you force upon the rest of us" >>>>>>>>>> Interesting as the lexis dates you as a long time follower of 606, going back to BBC times. You appear to be from the Spangletti tribe, but of the later, more degenerative period. I assume you have enough strength of character to back up the insults you casually hurl from behind your computer screen - Examples and evidence please! I do NOT force anything on anyone. Well, except the Admiral's daughter and as Marty says, I prefer to see that within the context of the ongoing class conflict. However, being someone who likes to promulgate the TRUTH about matters and who delights in shredding EXREP nonsense, my views are probably highly annoying to you. Your frustration is a commonly observed symptom amongst the brainwashed and delusional.
"You have my sympathies" >>>>>>>>>> I would dearly like to stay here and swap phony, mealy mouthed commiserations with you, but the truth is I dont really care about your largely self inflicited condition. Im much more concerned about the outcome of the Ireland Wales match in a few hours time, so I must be off. The count down has already started!

I fear the long-winded nature of Shenandopeys vituperative comments is merely the poor fella over-compensating for his all too apparent intellectual and educational deficiencies.
However that plagiarised Wikipedia précis of boxing defences would indeed get an e-grade pass, if it were indeed not the fraudulent appropriation of the work of others.
