Football is a contact sport. The guy wanted to be touched and the VAR idiots gave it. Guess they were paid well.

Football needs an independent regulator, today proves the current system isn't fair or consistent

Football needs competent consistent refs.

Even how many yellow card we were getting today was a joke in comparison to them.

Difference between pulling a shirt and and a touch. I play amateur football but I'd never pull a shirt in the box because it opens yourself up to conceding a penalty if the ref sees, because it's against the rules

Football is a contact sport. The shirt incident has nothing to do with the incident as the player was already on the floor.

‘Contact sport’ means being robust in tackles, headers and generally not allowing yourself to be physically dominated by your opponent.

What Xhaka did to concede the penalty was nothing to do with football being a contact sport.

Lex, he was already fallen down. The "pull shirt" was before and even when you looked at it isolated the pull wasnt enough to award a pen.

Why have you put pull shirt in quotation marks? That's exactly what he did

posted on 1/1/22

Yes.

Which (again) begs the question... wtf was Xhaka thinking, pulling on the guy’s shirt?

I stop here. Dont waste my energy.

It’s a simple question, Gt.

Both inicidence arent enough to award a pen. not the Odegaard one and not he Xhaka one. Simple.

To my mind this is more evidence of Xhaka’s lack of self awareness.

Literally everyone in football outside of Xhaka’s head knows he has this reputation for clumsy / rash tackles and generally bad decision making. Whether due to hotheadedness, a lack of pace, or something else, the fact remains, and it’s been facking Arsenal at some point every season since he arrived.

Meanwhile, inside Xhaka’s head, the only person who believes he isn’t the problem, will continue in the same vein as always until the day he retires from football.

Then he’ll move into the insurance business.

Punished because of his reputation. Well done

Yes, we all know that should’ve been a penalty.

What’s your point?

If he was already going down why pull him? It was awful reffing but it was also incredibly idiotic play by Xhaka.

I know we joke about you loving Xhaka but it's honestly baffling you can't be objective enough to see he's a problem

I am not alone with my opinion but clearly not on this thread. If you think that should be a pen then you clearly as bad as the refs decision.

Xhaka had a good game today and had good games before. If you can't see that you clearly have an agenda.

posted on 1/1/22

This game isn’t about whether it should’ve been a penalty or not though, Gt.

It’s about Xhaka making the decision to give it easier for the ref.
