Looked like we could get at them pretty well, but we have no striker or presence in the box to take any potential chances. Arteta trying to be too clever, the players look even more clueless than normal doing this formation, looks like Arteta told them they were playing this way 5 mins before kicks off

There is absolutely no argument for keeping Arteta once we get knocked out of this competition. None whatsoever. I want him gone after next week's leg, which at this rate will just be a formality.

He's chosen an experimental XI and he's totally botched it. Players aren't playing with any aggression or desire at all.

Completely outplayed.

For some, it really is.

Villareal need one goal and this game is done. We are definitely conceding again.

Pepe on the left Saka on the right and Martinelli up front is what everyone has been asking for if our strikers aren't fit and Arteta gives us this shower is chit.

Games literally done. No way we keep a clean sheet at the Emirates

What are these commentators and pundits doing they should be tearing strips off Arteta for this lineup it's dreadful. The players don't seem to believe in him and I think most of the fans want him gone now.

Technically yes, but in reality the only chance we have of progressing is a miracle or fluke. This team just doesn't have it in them

Freddie is miles better than Arteta.

Ceballos is basically denilson

I don't understand why you introduce a whole new approach for the biggest game of the season. This is something Pep sometimes does at City too, when they get knocked out of the CL normally. Why would you hamstring your own team to try and confuse the opposition in the semifinals?! It's so weird.

Also Xhaka at LB was never a solution, just play your professional footballers in the positions they normally play. Sure Cedric is no Tierney but he is a full-back, or Saka can play there and we still have ESR and Odegaard playing in attacking positions.
