He's brilliant, oozes class.
Shame he's 36 as we're crying out for a world class CB and a leader within the team.
Brings calmness to a pretty chaotic defence. We should extend his contract as his experience is priceless within the dressing room etc.

He's class mate you're right. Great defender. I think he could still be at Chelsea in 18 months you know. Daft as it sounds he's still very very mobile for his age.
I’ve always felt it was no coincidence that he was the one suspended when Brazil got walloped 7-1 by Germany in the semis of their own World Cup. He was immense in that competition.
Exercising the one year extension is a no brainer for me, if he's happy to stay.
Yeah, it is frustrating that we don't have the flawless version of Silva because frankly we need that version right now, but despite that he has improved what was a terrible defence to an average one.At 36,that is some achievement.
What age did Maldini retire?
My favourite defender ever. Silva reminds me of him.
You couldn't have got him in 2012 even if you tried, he had no interest in coming to the PL at the time.
Mate you played v Fulham with ten men ffs.

dont like the look of this midfield-very thin
He reminds me of Eto and how Eto did for us in terms of when we signed Eto even though he was past his prime/best he still oozed class and you could still see the class a mile off. same with Silva he’s clearly getting on and past his absolute prime/best but the intelligence and class is plain to see

Order of importance at the back:
1. Mendy
2. James
3. Chilwell
4. Silva
First three are untouchables can't lose them for a lengthy period or we'll suffer badly.
Last one we can do without, and not have as much detrimental effect on the team...as has already panned-out the times Silva doesn't play and Mendy has an entirely different back 4 infront of him...kept clean-sheets and looked fairly secure (in CL & PL).
Reinforces my stance that Mendy is the real difference-maker at the back, exudes a certain degree of confidence into the backline.
Silva is a reasonable stopgap

Mendy is an upgrade on kepa that's not in question but that's a low bar.... And he has had the propensity for a couple of horror moments lately, so don't go thinking he's the be all and end all because he's not
