Some of you guys almost revel in that Spursy tag of being plucky nearly men. Liverpool are a better team than you regardless of form. Most of the time you fall short because you're close but not quite at the level of the top teams, not because of some voodoo curse.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s a load of rubbish. Spurs should of won a heck of a lot more from how the club have evolved. It’s on the last 2/3 years where Liverpool have been better than us. The vast majority of the time, we have been much better than Liverpool. Our record is embarrassing against them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He has a point though. To label it a holistic club problem is to push the blame on to external factors rather than looking for improvement yourself. Gary Neville once said that in order for Liverpool to have won the league last year, they needed to do it by being about 30 points in front. If it was a close run thing, the weight of expectation might have affecting their ability to get over the line. As it was, they dominated so much they didn't need to think about fearing if they'd lose it. If we have a tag, the players need to be so much better than the opposition so that we override that thought and get over the line anyway.

but when you have fans saying 'we're so unlucky, life's so unfair, we're cursed' then it almost becomes a self fulfilling prophecy and you're embedding that loser mentality into the culture of the club. For about 10 years you've been in a limbo where you're close enough to have the expectation of winning things and challenging but realistically City, Chelsea, United, Liverpool invest a lot more and have better players.

It's also worth factoring in that Arsenal have won 4 F.A. Cups in the last 10 years but in that time we've had a much better team than them. I do think history weighs down a team. The longer you go without winning the harder it gets. It's not a curse, it's just not quite believing you're gonna get there as there's little in the way of precedent.

Don, there is no guarantee of anyone pushing us to the next level. In fairness you look at our squad and how it's better than it was before and that should tell you that we should be moving up a level. The likes of Hojbjerg, an improved Ndombele, an even better Son, Reguilon, Bale, a second striker, Berg (who does look decent despite the lack of finishing at the moment). We're seemingly playing worse football with an improved squad now. It's got to a point where it's as much I feel about getting Jose out of the door because he is holding the side back, than finding a quality replacement to take over.
Yeh but I don’t believe this Hassnhuttl is suddenly the replacement just because he’s had half a bloody good season with Southampton. If we are replacing Mourinho, then would like someone who’s actually realistic, but with a bit of pedigree. We are a big club still. Prime example Tuchel who’s obviously gone chelsea now. He’s not elite level like Klopp/Pep yet, but he’s got the experience of managing a big club and winning trophies. I really don’t think we should be getting over excited about a manager that’s had half a good season ffs. Southampton fans wanted him out last season let’s not forget this.

If we could get him I'd go with Nangelsmann as he's taken Leipzig so far but I think he may be beyond us now. A lot of clubs will be interested in taking him. A close second would be Rogers. He's barely put a foot wrong. Yes, it went a bit sour at the end of his Liverpool reign but he nearly won the league with a squad much worse than the current one. Look at Celtic now he's left and look at the difference he's made to Leicester. In fact I can't choose between them. Would he jump ship to join us though? Leicester are spending similar amounts to us now. The only difference is the expectation and the size of the club. I'm not sure he'd jump at the chance. It's a sideways step, as much as we don't want to admit it.
Hassenhuttl is in the next grade down from those two I'd say. He's yet to be tested at a club competing at the top but then Poch wasn't either, and look where he took us.
Southampton have a good record for recruitment, whether it be players or managers, and our own signings from them have worked out well, as they have done for other big clubs.
If in doubt, just go with what Southampton have got cause they usually do it better than you.

Hassenhutl would be a punt, like Poch was. But he is a hungry manager on his way up and it’s more than a good half a season, he’s done an excellent job at Saints on a low budget. He plays a strong and attractive pressing game, has PL experience. I’d have no objection to us getting him at all. As mentioned elsewhere though, given the choice I’d be looking at Ten Hag or Nagelsmaan. Certainly we as club with a vision for the future in our new stadium should be trying to find one of Europe’s best up & coming, progressive coaches, not a miserable dinosaur like Jose with his appalling anti-football.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He’s done a decent job mate, I wouldn’t say excellent. Excellent would be putting a club like Southampton in the top 7. That’s an excellent job. Southampton finished 11th under him in his first full season which is not to bad, but somewhere you Expect Southampton to finish. This season they are currently 11th. Don’t think he merits that amount of excitement whatsoever. The other 2 you mentioned different. The Ajax manager has at least managed a big club in the CL and got a pedigree of winning trophies, regardless of quality of the league. The Southampton manager not for me sorry. Just feel it’s Spurs fans wishing another Pochettino because he’s from Southampton.
I think we are lot bigger than the Southampton manager. The Leipzig one or the Ajax manager are the manager we need to go for it Jose is binned. The type of manager that is just below the elite level.

Jose in. Get GLC and Reggie fit asap. Hopefully Aurier makes peace with Hugo or whoever. If not play Tanganga at right back or even Sissoko. Doherty should be no where near the team.
Looking forward to seeing Vinny or Bale step in up in Kame's absence.

I'd be careful with the Ajax manager. The reason they play such lovely football and have such a vibrant youth set up is because of the way the club is run from top to bottom. Any success Ajax have is largely down to the structure more than any one manager. Frank De Boer is a good warning about that. Did well for Ajax but couldn't replicate it elsewhere. You could argue that the same criticism could be thrown at Nagelsmann but where he's taken them from and to is a huge leap. He nearly won the CL on a shoestring.
