Gazza played the way we would all want to play. Wonder how often he'd get a red with those forearm smashes/ elbows he dished out when carrying the ball.

Billy Liddell, Ian St John, Roger Hunt, Baros and of course King Kenny.

YaYa Toure.

Mousa Dembele - loved watching the way he’d glide past players so effortlessly, turn on a sixpence, and was so strong in the tackle. Such a shame that often his best moments wouldn’t lead to much so he didn’t get much recognition. But some matches watching him at WHL was worth the match fee alone

Berbatov for Spurs. So classy and ridiculous touch
Even though he played for Chelsea I’d have to say Hazard

I’ll move on from our own stars ๐Ÿ˜€ (well, there were many).

Rodneee...Rodneee...(Marsh)
George Armstrong
Charlie Cooke
Bobby Moore
Bonzo (Billy Bonds)
Dave Mackay and...in another Spursy moment...
James Greaves-probably the greatest of them all ๐Ÿ˜‰

Loads more.

Michael Laudrup - Literally everything he did, he did it with purpose and was constantly going for the decisive. In an age of the sideway pass, harking back to a time when a player existed who's entire purpose was the low percentage, decisive forward pass is as comforting a thought as there is.

Robert Pires - Scruffy runner, awkward scrambler and just an unathletic looking way of doing everything, but man was the man a footballing maestro in everything he did. Always making the right decision whether ghosting into space to find a pass, or knowing almost instinctively where a loose ball would drop, the man was constantly playing chess with everything he did while most others were playing checkers.

Alexander Hleb - Another from the school of scruff in terms of his style, but man could this man play football when playing with confidence. While he lacked a decisive edge in front of goal, everywhere else he had an urgency and a thrust that was just joyful when in full stride. That 2007/08 Arsenal team played possibly the best football the league has seen and he was very much at the forefront of that, usually being the stem for which most of those astounding moves would start. So much ability, shame he didn't always have the heart to match.

Moussa Dembele - Just an absolute Rolls Royce of a player when at his best. Glided effortlessly across the pitch, dribbling like the ball was attached to his feet and so unbelievably strong in possession that dispossessing him was done very much at his opponents risk. A great talent that, like Hleb, had the ability to achieve more if he had the consistency to have a team built around him. On his day, could dictate and control the say-so of a game like very few.

There's a two-hour compilation of Michael Laudrup out there on Youtube. I've only watched about half an hour, but each and every one is a peach.

Inspired an entire generation of Spanish midfielders too, his impact on the game here was massive.

You need to add Zola and Eidur to that list.

Also, classy defenders the great Maldini was like watching a Rolls Royce drive out of the car show room.

Just utter class.

Cruyff and Zico too

Fabregas when he was at Arsenal. He is one of the few players who could have a stinker of a game, but with one pass could decide it. You just knew that as long as he had the ball, he could create a proper chance.

Others-The Bara/Spain midfield of Busquets, Xavi and Iniesta.

Ribery was under rated I think and robbed of world player that year. Guy was sublime. I went from thinking he should be living in a bell tower to being in awe at how direct and destructive he was. I'd go as far as to say he was the better of the two out of him and robben.

Why did you think he should be living in a bell tower out of interest?
