What's Changed

It's Ole and the fact he has been given time. If the board back him in the summer with Sancho, Grealish and a CB then United will be the top team in England for the next 5-10 years.

What has changed is that Ole has had decent AM's available to him. Look at the period before Bruno arrived and when Pogba was injured and Ole didn't have a single quality AM to rely and thus we had no-one that could utilise the pace of our forwards players. As soon as Bruno arrived and then Pogba came back from injury we have been much better in terms of attacking intent and results. Its still not perfect, but we are heading in the right direction. What we really need now is a top CB that will boss the defence and persuade Ole that he doesn't have to play two DMs as frequently as he does.

In terms of what he's done differently, I think a huge part of it is in relation to the dressing room. When Ole walked through the doors there was too strong a smell of Fergie. For example:

Smalling
Young
Valencia
Lingard

Were all there from Fergie's era. I know Lingard hadn't made his debut then but he was very much moulded when Ferguson was in charge. Fast forward now and Ole has successfully binned them all off to maintain more control of the squad. Jones will be next and probably would've gone if someone wanted him.

Klopp did the same when he walked into Anfield. Off the top of my head:

Skrtel
Mignolet
Clyne
Moreno
Benteke
Allen

Were all from a different era.

It's interesting when you compare Klopp's progress to Ole's in Klopp's timeline. We are now 2 years in Ole's tenure and he got 3rd in his first full season which is similar to Klopp.

In fact I think Ole has made more progress because I think you only scraped 4th in Klopp's first full year. Can Ole go further and win the title this year? I think so, I hope so but there's a lot of pessimism on these boards and people will want me banned if I go any further.

Ole has put together the best squad post SAF imo.

Bruno Fernandes has been the catalyst for the turn around that happened before the start of this season.

We’re still getting there but it’s promising.

For me it’s coincided with cutler arriving in the scene. I think the players have read his not at all way ott inspirational posts and responded

Disagree with the notion of the article. I agree with Gary Neville in that Utd play in moments. They are lethal. But expansive free flowing football? Definitely not. Still very much a countering team. Have, from reports from Utd fans, also not even been thst good this year but have done enough to get the goals. They’ve gone 1 down several times this year

You lose one match and everyone wants to sack the Manager, ridiculous, but it's the times we live in unfortunately.

I didn't say free flowing, but compared to previously, definately more expansive.

I know people think i'm joking but I genuinely do support United and I believe we will win the title. In fact someone brought this to my attention the other day... this account is banned so there is zero way I can have edited the article. Read what it says and the date I wrote it. I was right.

I got banned for posting stuff like that but it wasn't a WUM and time has proven me right. Here we are sat clear of Liverpool in the league and outside challengers (general opinion) for the title.

Not a countering team at all. No idea what you are watching. Countering is only part of our play.

Yes you were right to disagree with the expansive football. It is only sporadic.

Hmm. Again not sure I agree. But Bruno’s ability to push forward no matter risk or reward is a massive change to how they’ve transformed to getting more goals

this

the worst period for utd under ole was when pogba was unavailable before bruno. He was the sole creative force and the other options were a massive step down. And when pogba had a poor game we pretty much stunk

but with bruno we now have another sourcce of creativity.Admottedly. bruno single handly took on the creative responsibility initially but he is now just a very important part of an attacking force

It would be ridiculous to not say you are challengers, or disagree with it. I think ultimately City have the edge, but with the progression being made at Utd, and confidence is obviously increasing, there seems to be good times ahead for you lot.

Just my two penniesworth guys ... anyway, I'm going into hibernation until Monday, can see us getting our bottoms spanked by City.

I wouldn't call it 'confident, expansive football'. Generally the football under Ole has been poor although results are getting better.

Stability obviously helps and a manager being able to build the side he wants which would benefit any manager.

posted on 5/2/21

For a start, I think it's not *this season* that we've seen a decisive change. Overall, I'd say the second half of last season saw us playing better attacking football than we have since September.

Secondly, I think there has been a cultural reset under Solskjaer combined with a gradual process of moving out players that don't fit the culture or footballing requirements and recruiting players who are deemed to fit them. This has brought about incremental, gradual improvements.

Thirdly: Bruno Fernandes has been a hugely important buy, making the game plan work far more effectively and at the same time reinforcing the cultural reset through his enthusiasm, confidence and professionalism.

What's changed? Bruno...

We got lucky and signed Bruno... Else Ole would have been sacked a while back!

Bruno got lucky and signed for us...

Imagine him playing at LWB for Spurs under Mourinho... What a miserable life!

No problem. It is refreshing to see a Liverpool fan come on here with the intention of football debate.
