It’s a different system. Werner isn’t playing as a wringer like Lampard was making him play. He’s playing as a forward now which is all I wanted

Today Werner played just behind the striker, to the left, bit not on the left and had a lot more influence on the game. Wish we'd stop fkn around with the ball at the back.

Werner was not playing on the left. Lampard made a fundamental error in corresponding fixture by not going with 3 centrebacks against a team that just love to chuck in crosses. Tuchel at least addressed this whether it's because its a system he likes at all times or not. Lampard went 3 at the back second half but the damage had been done. Still early days for TT and would like to see the ball moved a lot quicker but happy with the start of his tenure.

Did your mate think Sheffield U penalty was ok discounting the offside? Werner played for the pen no doubt in my mind but it was a penalty as the keeper slid out and did not make contact with the ball. Werner saw that and waited for contact. He had no intention of going after the ball once he knocked it past the keeper but it's still a penalty.

Tuschel seems to be a step backwards for some of your talented youngsters. Seemingly ignoring chillwell last couple of games who was looking decent and gilmour who looks a top prospect. No Abraham either. I’d be including them as much as possible.,

Exactly... what Souness was trying to say, I haven’t a clue. Putting the blame on Werner. He simply done him.
I’m sure he wouldn’t of got to the ball to score, but the goalie committed, and got done.
It wasn’t as if Werner drag his leg either, he got hit.

Did Harry Kane make another attempt on someone’s life today or did he have a day off?

A few United fans might remember this. Pen reminded me of the one Zamorano played for at the San Siro in the Treble season.

Knew exactly what he was doing, played the percentages of going in the direction the keeper had committed to knowing contact was inevitable - tactfully won legit penalty. Always surprised me the Zamorano one wasn't given as a kid, but that might be an example of how the thinking has changed in 20+ years.

Anyways.... much credit for the win goes to VAR for overturning Kevin Friend, not once but twice. On another day without VAR we'd 'ave likely lost points on this game.
Ironically it was Lampard who is due credit for the emergence of VAR as anyone ...should also take a bow.
