Yeah of course, but to feign head injury is a scu mmy thing to do.
Shocking, next 3 games is who'd you'd want on paper after that performance but the players we can put out is the the worrying thing.

Players were poor but the blame is squarely with Rodgers the way he had them playing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep. It is today I’m afraid. Arsenal knew how we’d play and nullified it. When that was the patently clear after the first half, we should have changed it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be honest, I’m not sure who to blame for that shambles. Shall we just go with Under?

Those 2 chances at the end summed that up
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No they didn’t, as we didn’t have any shots for the rest of the game. That was the best we did!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ineachacho’s shot was about as bad as it could get..
Was just saying to my son
We probably have 12 players 2 retired and 4 kids for subs
So looks like for the next few weeks
5 at back
Söyüncü fuchs amarty Thomas
Castagne Ricardo
Mendy Tielemans ndidi
Albrighton under
Vardy nacho
13 players
Mom
Stretcher bearers
Straight on pick up
Carry off
No dropping 🙄
Excellent performance

I do, it was Rodgers Fault.
I'm not blaming BR, 6 first team players out before today, now 8. Can we question why so many injuries these past two seasons ?
Only Maddison was missing from the First team line up Today, no excuse for doing a Jose from BR.
I didn’t mind the team we started with, but it wasn’t working and it needed changing to affect the game. That was where our tactics fell down today.
I genuinely, without sarcasm, would be intrigued to know what people feel that BR could have done in terms of tactics - other than suggest they generally better ?
Switched to a back 3 and attacked Arsenal down the flanks where they seemed to be struggling and pushed Nacho up as a striker.
Brought Mendy on to play through the press.
Two options I felt were a possibility.
4-2-3-1 wasn’t working with Arsenal pressing us high.
Mendy on to replace Ndidi or with ?
BTW KTF1 - I do think Rodgers started the game with a strong team, and made a sensible 2nd half sub. I’m just not sure we created a chance in that game whilst not looking solid and vulnerable on the counter.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Simple swap for Ndidi if it’s 4-2-3-1 to play through the press. What was clear was Ndidi struggled today, as amazing a player as he is.
Personally, I still think a Ndidi who isn’t excellent on match day is far better than Mendy. However, putting that aside, I’m not sure a like for like change. In defensive midfield would have benefited us that much. I don’t really think Arsenal had much of a press, we simply game the ball away a lot. They had two shots on target from open play, our issue (well, one of the issues) was more to do with creative and energy going forward
Simple, play with a high press high intensity play.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thought we tried that second half but it just petered out when there was no final ball on. We were too narrow all game.
Surely this modern jargon simply means, play well, attempt to get the ball back and attack with quality and accuracy?
Are we suggesting Rodgers told them not to do that and what evidence (other than the players didn’t perform) do we have of that?
It’s more concerning to accept that we just haven’t been up to it over the last two games, in terms of the players, but I think that is the case. Now, that isn’t me suggesting they should be berated - to be in the top 4 would be fantastic even with a full strength team...to be in the top 4 with such a ridiculous amount of injuries is remarkable....but I think that along with fatigue, is the reason.
Moving forward, ‘high press’ ‘deep block’ etc, I think will have very little to do with how we get through to the end of the season ...obviously, it will be impacted by injuries, but Rodgers, right now, is going to earn his millions by making sure that the players don’t feel sorry for themselves and/or become shaken by this onslaught of injuries because I have to admit, I kind of joined them in feeling down in the dumps and sorry for myself as a fan in that second half.
For about 2 minutes half the team did.
Just had to start like that against an Arsenal
Team with defensive clangers in them, not sit back for 40 minutes after one of those defensive clangers happened.

On tactics, and I have noticed this with both Ricardo and Barnes at times, their standing position to receive the ball is way, way too high up the pitch at times for the types of players they are. They are cancelling the space out for themselves and the full backs behind them
I agree KTF. I think we need to freshen it up and do something different now, because doing that against a compact and deep Burnley team and expecting a different result would be stupid.
Back 3 for me and very high full backs against Burnley.

If you've got a high press and turn the ball over they're in the perfect position.
Losing Barnes long term could cost us Top Four now, he's the only one looking like creating anything or scoring on current form.
Vardy might get an odd penalty before the end of the Season and hopefully Maddison gets back to form quickly when he returns, that's about it as far as scoring goes.

Of course it doesn't, you must know the difference betwen a Team playing a high press and just sitting back letting the other team have 67% possession.
And of course he did, that was obvious, the players play how the Manager tells them, we've clearly played with a high press many times with Great success, Arteta apparently mentioned that's why we won the first game!
