Hopefully not, it facking reeks.

No way the tories will allow that.

But they are missing a trick. Tax it like petrol tobacco and they’d earn a fortune out of it.

It should be legal..

Taxing it would more than take care of that. It would be a goldmine

If you’re gonna tax it at the levels of petrol and cigarettes, the price will go through the roof. Why pay all that extra when you can go tax free to a dealer?

S'alright here in Canadia. There was definitely a month of two there when they legalized it that you could smell weed everywhere but really it's like booze. Most people have the common sense and decency to not do it blatantly in public. Plus there's plenty of rules about not near doorways or bus stops, schools etc.

The plus side as a regular person is you can easily get stuff like CBD extracts etc from a regular high street store. For society yeah there's the tax income, but you also free up the police and justice system for actual criminals.

It should definitely be legal.

Similar situation here, but you can’t smoke in public.

Granted, actual flower is only one of many products available and few, if any smell of weed, so I’m sure plenty of people are walking around eating their rice crispy bars or drinking their seltzer. But it’s all become quite discreet and acceptable here

It's already used widely in the medical industry, especially Germany, and I think that Britain is one of it's principal suppliers.
The positives far outweigh the negatives, quite apart from having a (reasonable) tax income, their would be a huge decrease in policing and detention bills, the savings in prison and custodial sentenses would also be a huge saving for the economy.

It’s mad that it isn’t legal yet. People are being recommended to smoke it in Ireland to get through lockdown yet it’s illegal. And the supply is so low now that prices have pretty much doubled. With all the debts these governments have brought on themselves it’s strange why they won’t take advantage of a pretty big cash cow

I remember a serious article written (early 80's) on this topic of de -criminalisation of cannabis .
The article suggested that since most law students that time were enjoying pot, it should not be long before the same legal students would become the law makers of the future ...and the process of decriminalisation would be inevitable.
I'm not holding my inhalation any longer...

It's a really interesting subject. Like most people, I was led to believe it was an incredibly damaging substance with very little upside, and as of a few years ago would have been completely against the idea of legalisation.

But in recent years, there's been a lot of interesting research into the endocannabanoid system - particularly with regards to the potential therapeutic/medicinal applications of CBD and THC - and with it, it does seem like the tide is turning a bit with the introduction of medicinal cannabis access clinics and the development of schemes like Project 21 to improve availability and research.

I can appreciate why some have reservations about it but when you consider the potential economic (tax revenue, tourism, and reduced police resources) and health (not just from using in a medical environment, but also ensuring products meet certain standards which can't be guaranteed through the black market) benefits, it's definitely not something that should be dismissed out of hand.

What exactly are the negatives? ...Apart from the odour that one poster complained of ...

So when is it to be legalised for recreational use, in Britain ?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Our gov is so hypocritical that we (UK) are one of, if not, the biggest exporters of it to the world, (which i believe Teresa Mays husbund's is involved in) but to legalise..hell no, they need to keep them prison numbers up!

I doubt that cannabis consumption or selling cannabis is the reason for many people currently locked up.

I'm fully aware of that, it was a bit of tongue in cheek..

Beat me to it

Love to go to a football match full of stoners. Delayed reaction cheers & half the stadium queuing up at the burger van/ignoring the match. This is a happier society to live in
