Don’t think Kane will leave but ffs it’s the Sun
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly it's The Sun. Normally they would jump on the bandwagon and talk about the best place for Kane to be next season. The fact they are going against the media grain and it is written by one their most senior writers makes me feel he knows something.
Either way, it confirms something which has been talked about on here. 3 years left on his contract. He is Levy's for another year at least. The Spanish clubs are up to their eyeballs in debt with stadium refurbs so they won't be paying for him this summer.
Next summer will be a different story obviously...
They're just reporting what everyone knew anyway.
Always said he'd struggle to leave as no one will pay what Levy wants. Rumours of a £175 million fee seem daft but with Levy it's believable.
No one will pay anywhere near that when Haarland is believed to be around £125 million. Harry isn't the type to down tools but I can definitely see other players questioning if it's worth going to spurs longterm, knowing if they succeed Levy will refuse to let me go for anything bit mickey mouse money.
If Kane was to ask for a move though it would be interesting to see what tac Levy takes, and whether he would drop his price to allow Kane to try and win some trophies. Loyalty used to be worth something but I'm not Levy would see it that way when it effects his balance sheet 😅
Be sad if Kane ended up like another Le Tissier

Tbh kinda makes sense. No diva tenancies would make him a nice bloke but I just wasn't ever convinced he wanted to go a level up in his career. He had ample chances to leave I think but was content where he was.
StI'll believe both players should have some trophies in their cabinet though, noting the calibre of players they are/were.
Hopefully he'll stay and break Shearer's record. If we can't win any trophies during that time it would be an even bigger personal achievement for Kane. He's set to be the best there ever was.

Says the club won’t let him leave, not that he wants to stay
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The end result is the same.
The format plays out the same every time.
1. Paul Merson ( or someone similar ) wakes up and thinks "blimey Spurs are getting so far ahead of my ex club, I better stir it up a bit"
or
Some nobody like Chris Sutton thinks " blimey my agent hasn't called me with a gig for a while, I better come out with something to get my face back in the headlines"
3 A statement along the usual tried and tested lines of "He must move to win trophies" is got out there. The originator, of course, either wants to disrupt Spurs, or just couldn't care less, as long as he is back in the headlines, and therefore earring lolly.
4. Sky of course flame the fire because they are still annoyed with Spurs ( and City ) for breaking up their precious "sky 4" cartel. And of course know full well people will, one again, fall for it and therefore guarantee increase in their subscriptions / viewing figures. A win/win then.
5. The story hits the nationals, and once there, won't go away. At this point other insignificant ex footballers, many of which won nothing in their respective careers, come out of the woodwork and join in for their undeserved pay cheques.
6. Ultimately, it then gets onto Sky's oh so high quality "Transfer Programme". you know, the one where 3/4 blokes sit around a desk trying to make us all think they have the inside track, but actually know nothing and are just gossiping to each other, with lap tops in front of them that are not even switched on.
Meanwhile the player knows nothing, the club knows nothing and the fans ( us ) either just laugh at it all, or occasionally get annoyed that, once again, the media show their love for knocking Spurs at any opportunity.
So thank you Paul Merson, you managed to get this one to run for at least a month. So job done eh ?
I do think Kane will end up winning something at Spurs in the next couple of years as I believe we will stick with Mourinho and he will get us over the line somewhere.
However Kane is a player who should be playing Champions league every year and winning titles. The worry for me is that we have a.player this good but We really haven’t shown any real intent to build a team around him good enough to challenge consistently - Poch turned water into wine rather than benefit from a large investment into the squad.
Hopefully we win the league cup and England win the euros - a lot of the trophy talk will go away and people may start to focus on the fact that he is likely to become our top goal scorer of all time, England’s top scorer and the Prems top scorer
Good write up Steve F.
I think it was David Fraudstein on this occassion, who ignited the latest Kane debate a week or so ago on SSN. He is a known gooner fan so similar to Merson.
Merson is great when it comes to Spurs. Remember when he said Kane will struggle for goals under Jose LOL
I remember at the start of the season when a few of the anti-Spurs fans, apologises, I mean anti-Jose fans said we had to win something this season or get CL football otherwise Kane will leave at the end of the season.
Doesn't look like this is going to be case regardless of what happens come what May.

And if all fantasy, how come you never hear "pundits" talking about Rice having to leave West Ham to win trophies, or Lewin needing to leave Everton to win trophies. Particularly as these two go back years longer than Spurs to the last trophy won.
Yeah, funny that.
He is gone in the summer of 2022 if Levy once again fails to provide the tools for us to compete for the PL, I would be surprised if he signed a new contract with Spurs before then, there would have to be a clear sign that we can challenge and win the biggest pots (unlikely) or a contract on offer that is simply too good to turn down (also unlikely with what other clubs would be willing to pay him). The media will be gutted for another year at least.

Never seen anyone so paranoid like you are about the media
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you think all of the above is simply not true and never happens ???
Surprising and kinda gullible on your part.
