You make it sound like we actually bid for him, we didn't. Klopp said the price was too high = no bid. Now we know why. Especially as Jota was only a few million less than Werner.
Jota is brilliant.
Narrow escape on Werner.
Benefit of buying PL proven I guess.
Yeah Jota has got PL experience in his favour.
I'll give Werner next season before knowing what the better deal was.
Yeah and how did the Jota signing work out for your title defense
We're cursed with strikers. Stick Werner in a Liverpool or any other PL shirt he's probably winning player of the year
Us signing Haaland would be an interesting experiment if nothing else. You think there's no possible way he could flop for any club, but we'd find a way

No tongue in cheek, with the exception of Crespo we've got rotten luck with strikers who enjoy playing off the shoulder and/or ideally are built to play in a two. We do well with strikers who are capable of linking for different reasons - Drogba, Gudjohnsen, Costa, Giroud, etc...
Called him the German Shane Long..

Not weird at all. The OP is lauding the signing of Jota. The signing has not in anyway helped your defense of the title. You would have been better of signing a top class CB or a midfielder. Yes hindsight is a wonderful thing but the signing has not worked ifor Liverpool in terms of this season

Have you successfully defended your title by signing Jota?
I think there's a fair chance that without other completely unrelated and unforeseeable circumstances he could well have been the difference that sealed the title, yes. This is based on the title winning form we have had while he has been fit. He was one of if not the main reason we were top at Christmas.

That speculative. The fact is the signing of Jota was made to strengthen your squad for a successful defence of the title, but for this season at least it hasn't worked out.
Next season may be a different story and then the OP will have a much stronger case for his wummery. But attempting to wum on the back of Liverpool's current season is laughable.

You can't judge a players impact only on where their team finishes. As you say he came in to strengthen the squad for a title defence and he did that above all expectations. It just turns out problems in other areas meant the team doing worse despite him. He has been absolutely top draw while available.
If it helps you to back down I should add that I think the Werner is crap comments are nonsense and loads of the same fans were foaming at the gash over the thought of signing him. I think he'll do ok with Chelsea eventually.

If you read my posts I have made no attempt to judge Jota's impact. I have simply made a factual statement against your speculative opinion.
Or going back to the original post a light hearted riposte to the OP which then generates all this subsequent nonsense.
"The signing has not in anyway helped your defense of the title." This must be the nonsense you are speaking of. It also contradicts your new statement that you "made no attempt to judges Jota's impact".
I'm also not actually being speculative but just pointing out your error on judging an individual on team performance.
We can all agree that Werner has not performed well overall this season. You bought him to get top 4 so based on your logic how well the signing has gone comes down to that simple fact.
Scenario A. Chelsea fail to get top 4 with Werner scoring no more goals (looking possible).
Scenario B. He still scores no more goals but Giroud has a stormed scoring 2 in every game off the bench and you clinch 4th.
Has Werner met your expectations in scenario B? He has contributed none of the success but gets the credit? Obviously not. Same with Jota except he's scenario A while actually scoring loads.
