Add Sky to this list as well. Broadcasters in general has been suicidal over this.
I don’t think any of us knows enough about the proposed ESL to form an inform opinion yet.
.....
I know enough to have formed mine.
Grubby organisations getting threatened by a new organisation that takes all of their bad qualities, magnifies them, and kills the last remaining redeeming quality (the principle of promotion and relegation right to the top of the game)? I'm glad someone is enjoying it. As I see it, this is like being ruled by the Tories, and then the National Socialists come to power.

I'm kinda excited about it.
The thought of playing more big games is good - I think with the super league being split in to 2 with 5 different teams invited each season means enough variety.
We get to see more of the best players play against each other rather than stat pad against the pragues and midgetlands of this world.
I am so bored of watching meaningless games, Europa league for example if full off it. Absolutely hate it. Even the Champions league in the group stages there are too many dead rubbers.
I think this sounds more exciting to me than what UEFA unveiled today in their revamp. The premier league and super league can complement each other quite nicely.
Of course there are questions about fairness, and being invited to participate, impact on small clubs etc. But let's face it - no one gave a carp when the oil merchants blood money came flooding in to buy trophies and league positions, so why the outrage now?
UEFA and FIFA are corrupt, the FA are incompetent. I really am not buying the tears. It was about time someone stood up to them.
This is just the firs draft of the proposed league. There will be months of negotiations before a ball is kicked, if it goes through at all. Lots of clauses in the original proposal will change during negotiations.
UEFA and PL are trying to use fans as pawns. They know big six have them bend over the barrel, so they are trying to use fan outrage to get leveraged negotiations. Imo it’s best to wait until they hash out the final agreement before going all ballistic

---------------
Because that money didn't stop others, especially smaller clubs being able to progress to the pinnacle. If you're Everton, Villa etc then what do you look to do each season now?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Qualify for the super league I suppose? 5 teams can get an invite, maybe more as they want 20 teams and only 12 have signed up.
Or maybe Champions league or Europa league will still exist in some form?
Even with UEFA's revamped champions league announced today, wouldn't West Ham miss out as it's based on past performance? Not sure, I haven't fully understood the implications yet.
But from a quick glance, Liverpool and Chelsea would qualify if it were based on this season and they finished outside top 4.

Me too, and it fecking stinks to high heaven.
I agree though it is quite amusing listening to representatives from FIFA and UEFA claiming the moral authority on this, but ultimately, beyond what anyone might think of the governing bodies, or the vested interests within broadcasting, for me personally, this ESL proposal, or reality, or however far down the track they are, is the immediate danger to football in this country.
Because that money didn't stop others
---
the oil money did for example stop the likes of Arsenal from competing.
Chelsea and City took away quite a few of their players.
The idea that inviting other teams to compete doesn't make it better. First, those teams won't have the financial weight of the permanent members so won't compete on an equal basis. Secondly, if the other teams aren't permanent members, they will want to have a chance to take part in the UEFA competitions that are actually part of the sporting pyramid, and there's impossible to conceive of UEFA letting them pick and choose, effectively only joining the CL when they haven't performed well enough to be invited to the ESL.

It will need some working out that's for sure. The SL is not going anywhere with the amount of money behind it.
As long as there are teams who cannot get relegated from what will be the highest paying competition, then there is nothing to understand.
The proposed league in purposed format has literally no chance of going through. In the same way, FIFA, PL and UEFA has no chance of following through on their idle threats.
This is all posturing and grand standing from everyone. None of the parties involved give two sh#ts about fans. They will soon meet and iron out an agreement that’ll line all their pockets. Meanwhile, it’s better to sit back and watch the chaos unfold. We’ll never experience something similar

You have not seen the response to it yet. Unless they plan to play Home games elsewhere, possibly not have a league to play in. A line has to be drawn on the money and it will be. Maybe UEFA share more of their pocket.

This has struck me as incredibly transparent but the masses seem to either be oblivious or ignore it.
Uefa booting clubs out of the current year's competition based on possibly playing in a different competition in future stinks of the kid who goes home with the ball because he isn't getting his own way.
They are the school bully who is trying to throw their weight around.

Why do people keep saying relegated? I can't help but think it's because people on TV are using that word.
Never in my life have I heard of people getting relegated from a cup competition. When has anyone said "ah United have been relegated from the champions league?"
They either get knocked out or fail to qualify. Very interesting that this word is being repeated over and over again, I can't help but think it highlights just how easy it is to manipulate people's language and affect what they say.
It's something I'd expect my Mrs to come out with.
"aw, were United relegated from the champions league? Better luck next year love".
Instead of not getting relegated, why aren't people saying they don't have to qualify? Far more consistent with language I've seen and heard people actually use.
It also makes me wonder if people think of this as a complete domestic league replacement, hence the no relegation thing, is that how people see it?

Not a bad shout. I won't be forgetting the reaction though, I've actually quite enjoyed observing the melodrama. Lot of grown men basically throwing themselves to the floor and having a tantrum. Some of the comments and memes shared on groups etc have made the day go rather quickly, so I'm grateful for that.

Without any outside influence I just can't imagine fans using that term, it would be qualification.
