[Leah Smith] Man United players revolted behind the scenes. Shaw and Maguire both heavily involved. They took it to the very top and confronted Ed Woodward. ESL IS DONE!
Would imagine similar stuff happened at the other clubs too

The 12 deserve some form of sanction for signing a letter of intent even if the cowards drop out. Points deduction, 30 points each!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well that doesn't seem right. If the players have had a large part to play in this, you can't then punish them.
Points etc isn't fair, it only punishes fans and players.
Continue with the discussions around changing ownership models, do it that way.
The whole point of this is the owners are the ones the anger should be directed at.
Apparently Maguire shouted ‘fack American civilisation’ when he opposed this.
If only we still had Zlatan here. He'd go to the head office.

This. I think Germany pretty much have it right with the 50+1 rule.
I doubt people would get bored of big clubs playing more frequently. That's a terrible argument. We pretty much play the same teams every year anyways in the PL, minus relegations. The big clubs in the PL will never get relegated.
This was just a cup competition with just big teams involved.
I would have liked to have seen where it went. Could end up great, could flop. But it wasn't really given a chance due to an aggressive campaign against it from Sky, Fifa and UEFA who are the cause of all this.
-----
Big games are only big games because they're not all the time. Including the cups, it would have meant that we could have played City 6 times per season, not counting double legged ties, or making those sheitey playoffs. Pretty sure the Manchester Derby would have been dead after a couple of years. It could have been interesting, there are probably ways of making it work, but almost all of them start with 'relegation has to be a thing'. No one should be safe permanently just because they happened to be the ones to start it. It's ludicrous.
It's not about UEFA, FIFA, etc being mad. You think that millions of fans are mad because Sky told them to be? I was livid from the second I heard about this, and I suspect the majority were.

Could be a good chance to make some changes in general.
A shake up of some form isn't a bad idea and in fact, will happen at some point. Football had been steadily evolving for years.
I'd really like more rules around academy and homegrown players being used. I don't know how or what but its been one of the best things we've had since Fergie left. We've at least had the likes of Rashford and Mason coming through. More of this throughout the league would be nice.

There should be alternatives to European competitions.
Regarding sky and the media in general. It was portrayed as an "attack on football".

Sky have played a blinder to be fair. I've not enjoyed the hypocrisy and faux concern for the likes of Burnley being able to achieve the dream.
These were the least compelling arguments I heard and read. I was enjoying see sky squirm.
There would. The majority of the outrage is because they're creating a closed system where only the founding group benefit. For 23 years, almost zero competition, no consequences. No incentive to take any other games seriously, because all of the money is in that one league. Look at the money being bandied about, 300m+ per year. Compare that to the current winnings, and it's just stupid.
If they'd said they were creating a new league system to replace the CL, but qualification worked similar to the CL, maybe it wouldn't have been fine, but it'd have received a damn sight better than this.
This was greed, and panic from the owners of those clubs, who have realised that their money machines aren't infallible, they can lose money (i.e. Covid, missing out on CL, etc) and wanted a way to just be given money for nothing.
