St Patrick was Welsh and not Catholic, but hey ho.lol

Self- loathing and apologizing for being English, from certain sectors, makes one "truly English"... some might day.A beautiful irony.

England is great...people, culture, landscape.

Have a happy St George's Day.♥️

That Guardian-Jack Straw article is 14 years old now, btw.

Calling St George a, "Turkish arab" sounds like something a natzi would say, implying one has to be white or Christian, to be "proper English".

More sweet irony from our Guardian, haha.

Willy waving flags of any nationality is for Nationalistic fanatics. I am just glad to be a member of planet earth. I don`t need to keep waving a flag on certain days of the year, to make out like I am better than any other human being.

Us vs them mentality is so out of fashion and medieval. Spaceship earth is where we all live. Is there an earth flag? I might wave that one.

Is Georgia named after St George. It seems so but no one is sure.

He is patron saint not only of England but also of Aragon, Catalonia, Georgia, Lithuania, Palestine, Portugal, Germany and Greece; and of Moscow, Istanbul, Genoa and Venice (second to Saint Mark). He's also patron saint of soldiers, archers, cavalry and chivalry, farmers and field workers, riders and saddlers, and he helps those suffering from leprosy, plague and syphilis. In recent years he has been adopted as patron saint of Scouts.

Happy St George's day to all relevant entities.

I would say that's a pretty bad take on patriotism as a whole. I've never seen it as a problem for people all over the world to celebrate their own country and join in celebrating other people's culture identity. etc. I actually think it's quite healthy. It's natural for humans to have a sense of familiarity and connection to the place they are born. You can love your own country and you can love other country's too. No issue with that at all.

Couldn’t agree more. I personally don’t celebrate it and wave flags around myself, but I have absolutely no issue whatsoever with people being people of their country. Everyone celebrates St Paddy’s day and the Irish are proud. Americans have their flags plastered all over the streets in the US, they are proud. Why is it so frowned upon when English people are proud? I can only guess it’s the far left liberal lunatics that are the only ones who can’t stand it and despise the country they are from.

No issue with that. Be proud of where you are from. But, I don’t see no difference between you celebrating St Paddy’s and English celebrating St. George’s, yet the far left always frown upon English people celebrating this day. It’s absolutely pathetic.

What are everyone's 3 reasons to be proud to be English? I'll go first.

1. We took are country back
2. We won the war
3. Tommy Robertson

How about everyone else? Or same reasons?
