Out of interest, does anyone know the league position we would be in without all of Harry kanes goals and assists this season?

Might give more of an indication as to how we would look without Kane

You cannot really look at like that. Another striker would have played, and he may have scored more, or scored winners in every game that Spurs have dropped points in. Spurs may have actually done better. Nobody really knows.

Yes we did but we had a good Kane deputy in Llorente who used his heights well.


I am not sure we would collapse without Kane, but we might even adapt a different system.
It might actually liberate the other players not to have the talisman there?
But no doubt, Kane is a world class player and we will miss him!

I am not sure we would collapse without Kane, but we might even adapt a different system.
It might actually liberate the other players not to have the talisman there?

Personally more I don't think his going, GN works for ss, Kane does an interview saying he wants to win things SSN put there own spin on it. Kane is world class and I would be gutted if he went, but is to collapse with out him is laughable.

I can ` t listen to Jenas on commentary or motd. Son ` s been the better player a lot of the time anyway.

Agree Sandy, of course we won’t fall apart, it’s lazy journalism to grab headlines. You only have to look at clubs like Atletico or Dortmund, who often sell their star players like Lewadownski, Goetze or Griezmann, to know that team’s can adapt and re-build, often for the greater good.

However, the concern for me is our over-reliance on Kane, moreso than the likes of Dortmund/Atletico had on Lewa/Griezmann, as we don’t have much quality in the squad, bar 3 or 4 players. Also our scouting and transfer strategy is really lacking - when compared to Dortmund/Atletico/Ajax etc, they have incredible networks, always seeming to pluck players from obscurity and turn them into stars. These clubs have football philosophies that run through the club, whereas I don’t really see one at Spurs anymore. We don’t even have a manager, yet alone the ability to spend say, £150m wisely.

So whilst I don’t think we’ll ever collapse, I think it’ll be hit or miss as to whether we’ll bounce back to UCL contention and can see us being in a similar place to Everton for the next few years.

I hope that whatever players/manager start next season for Spurs use the whole we are falling apart narrative that is currently all over the media to galvanise and fire them up.

I want to see some bloody mindedness and hard work instead of weak gutless capitulations in the 21/22 campaign.

SirLes. You are pretty well spot on with your comments. I would prefer Kane to stay obviously, but if he does go, Spurs will still carry on. Of course he will be hard to replace, and I have already set myself up for some leaner years in the Prem, and perhaps focus perhaps on winning a League Cup or an FA Cup. Small steps at a time.

But you just never know in football. Leicester were going to get relegated, then they won the title. Chelsea finished like 11th or 12th one season, then won the title the following season. In football anything is possible. And you never know Spurs may actually be better off without Kane, as the focus on the whole team seems to always be around him, and I am sure that it must grate on his teamates a lot. If he goes, they will no doubt put in more effort to prove that Spurs are not just a Harry Kane team.

I hope he does. No Spurs fan wants to see their best players leave the club, Specially a home grown who wears the club on his sleeve.

Those who say sell him and buy a few good players with his money, just remember this is Levy we are talking about.
We sold Bale, and bought 7 players who didn't work out for us at all.

It is possible to improve the squad when Kane leaves but it depends on how levy deal with it. If he drags it out and leaves no room to have him replaced like he has done in the past we will regress..

Jenas is a real Tottenham fan despite being from Nottingham

We all know what he means and he probably has no faith in the money improving you or even all being available knowing Levy and your crippling debts

Whilst I have always found it funny that the likes of Robbie Savage, Darren Bent, Jamie O'Hara etc even get air time. These are ex players who, not only won nothing, but didn't even play for a recognised big club.

Whilst Shearer did, of course score lot's of goals, I simply refuse to listen to any managerial comments and opinions he gives. The same goes for Gary Neville. Both were absolute disasters at playing manager, with both enjoying relegation in their respective short managerial spells.

These people clearly have no conscience, and must, I assume, just keep telling themselves they are entitled to give advice and opinion.

When Henry left Arsenal to go to Barcelona we suddenly became a much better team because the players didn't feel like they had to give the ball to him all the time. We should have won the league that season in fact, the Eduardo injury being the turning point in shattering the confidence of our inexperienced squad. We did have some very good young players coming through, and I doubt Spurs could easily replace Kane's goals and leadership, but you might well see improvements from the likes of Moura, Bergwiyn, even Lamela and Alli who have been playing in his shadow somewhat. On the other hand, who is going to provide the link-up play that makes Son so effective on the counter if Kane isn't there?

If you got £100m or even £150m for Kane there would be serious money to try and fix some of the glaring holes in your team. But then the question is, can the club be trusted to identify the right players to fill those gaps? And why weren't you trying to fix those problems while Kane was still there, given that CL TV money would mostly pay for them?

Sandy I think you are being too narrow minded here!

It’s not just about Kane leaving!

Other players may think what sort of ambitions have the club got by letting him go, they may want to follow suit and yes you’ll get a big cheque for Kane but again the ambition of the club would come into question again!
