Joe Hart should never be near the England team again

He's better than Betenelli and McCarthy though. Obviously when Pope's back shouldn't get back in.

McCarthy not had a bad start to the season.

Think it’s silly Sancho is called up without playing for under 21s. Started season unbelievably no doubt, but that’s with performances from the bench mostly is it not. Makes sense to call up to train, but think he’d be better playing full games for u21s at his age

Not sure that the U21s would be any help to him, he's likely too good for that level, better to give him time with the first team. Imagine he is unlikely to start so will be playing the same role for England as he is at Dortmund. Can develop into a starter with both at the same kind of rate which will work well imo

Can't think of any wingers I'd rather be called up tbh, most assists in Europe's top 5 leagues, even only 2 months in to a season, is a pretty big achievement considering he's only played 125 mins.

Got to remember that most good English wingers are back up at their clubs too anyway

Exactly, he’s only played 125 mins. Would help him more at Dortmund if he was playing a full game for the u21s. See if he has the same impact starting, let him build up proper fitness.

You don’t if he’s too good for a level when he’s never played it. Even for under 19s he’s what started 3 out of 5 games? He should be looking to progress not play the impact sub role.

Agreed. Young players are thrown into the national team far too quickly for my liking.

He's played 3 out of 5 games though because he's chosen to stay and work at Dortmund during those games.

Fitness doesn't seem to be an issue, started against Dortmund last night, created their first goal and I believe got MOTM.

England need a winger too with Lingard out, can't really think of any obvious options tbh

Will answer foreigns tonight

A player that’s started what two games for Dortmund would definitely be better playing at least a couple games for u21s before stepping up. He’s only 18 and a sub at his club. Can’t think of any reason why it would be better for him to be a sub for England.

Unless he was going to start then England not having great options shouldn’t come into it. You’re not desperate so should be about his development over another sub appearance.

He may well start a game...

Full game against Andorra U21, or Scotland U21, or 30 mins against Croatia/whoever the other game is against?

posted on 4/10/18

Full games

Playing Scotland u21 be better than coming up against Croatia full backs.

posted on 4/10/18

It’s not though is it

posted on 4/10/18

Yea. Croatian full backs aren’t great, I mean quite possible he’ll be up against a Rangers lb.

Plus it’s a full game. He’ll never have played in as competitive a game against a team like Scotland.

Definitely take Vrsaljko over any FB Scotland have at U21 level, and probably any level baring Robertson perhaps!

posted on 4/10/18

Vrsaljko? Robertson is easily better than Vrsaljko. Laughable comment.

posted on 4/10/18

Said baring Robertson didn't I?

posted on 4/10/18

Perhaps made it questionable! Tierney probably better too tbh. But true that he’s better than u21 fbs obv.

Point being a sub appearance against their fbs will be same old for him. Starting vs Scotland would be an entirely different prospect

posted on 4/10/18

Suppose he'd probably be in the U21s if the coaches felt that was more beneficial. England seem to be doing pretty well at putting people at the right level currently

Harry Kane, Sterling, Stones, Gomez, TAA all played for the U21s. Look at the Germany and Spain successful teams of recent, even France very rare for someone to not feature for u21s. Can’t imagi any of them calling him up

posted on 4/10/18

Big difference obviously being that in Sanchos position germany can call up Reus and Brandt and leave Sane at home. France have Payet at home, Spain can leave quality like Pedro and Callejon out of the squad.

In England have Sterling and....no one.

posted on 4/10/18

So why break a cycle, just continue to throw them in the deep end.

posted on 4/10/18

No ones saying he can’t go into U21s after, but there’s a few injuries in his position, he’s fit and playing well, there isn’t currently a better option for this squad. Unless you’d say it’s worth calling up Albrighton and never using him again!

posted on 4/10/18

No it would simply be better for his career if he wasn’t pushed too far and burnt out at a young age and was allowed to develop to his full potential.
