Thought I would cut out the middle man and answer any questions directly.

The cap will be based on the teams we select (initially thinking League 2). So for example if the teams are rated around the 63/64/65 level, we might cap at 70 for season 1, 75 for season 2, 80 for season 3 etc.

Nothing set in stone as yet, but that is the general idea.

Opinion of fifa seems more set in stone though. Surely everyone just signs the nest fifa players that are cheap in transfermarkt?

I had Iniesta, one of the highest rated on Fifa 18, TM value of £9m. He was too slow to make an impact.

Answer to Renegade's query

Yes they do. We went the TM route for valuations a long time ago, regardless of FIFA. It clearly has its weaknesses as older players are cheaper. We have just learnt to live with that tbh as there is no other solution that doesn't become subjective to one or a few people's opinions.

What we have found with FIFA though is that the older players tend to slow down and be less effective. Iniesta is the case example. 87 rated on FIFA and dirt cheap. Three managers have tried and failed to get the best out of him on FIFA. He just doesn't have the legs anymore.

So if anything, FIFA has brought it more in line with market values than we had before in our voting league

It's also short termism, yes you get an early advantage but those players on TM are only going to depreciate in value so other managers who've bought for the future will quickly surpass the codgers.

Appreciate the responses Afro. I'll watch some of the old streams when I finish work then I'll check rules on tactics etc. I imagine this league will be my priority but I should be able to manage in two leagues.

Sounds decent. I could probably get a Rangers team together on that rating. Will get signed up on the train later. Only other thing is how tactics work, do you have to know fifa shizz?

So the one game I watched on my lunch break ended 5-3! Are high scoring games like that a regularity?

I’ve not played fifa properly in years but always found scoring chances ridiculously hard with player with poor finishing when going low rated teams. Must’ve changed!

I have never had FIFA until really recently and didn't really know. You can get buy with sites like SoFIFA or the one Marky mentioned. I'll post up my tactics from last week as an example, plus a link to a guide on how they work.

It is really simple though.

Yeah the AI looks to have improved slightly based on the game I watched. Defending could do with a bit better AI but I'm assuming that one was on FIFA18.

The one you watched was a test run on FIFA19.

We are using FIFA18 at the moment, so Hero was testing FIFA19 and will adjust the settings accordingly.

You can make it more or less free scoring in the game settings.

Going to have to look up the meaning of all this. Fiddled with it from time to time when i used to play FIFA but i imagine it will play out differently when I'm not controlling the players

Subs is a minor contention. Fifa picks what subs to do (usually does like for like), so you get no control.

But it does mean you need to build a squad, not just have 11 big names. In my first game, I had Martin Terrier come on for Reus and my attack went downhill massively!!

But you don't have to play, or even know much about FIFA.

Like I said, I've never, ever played it, yet I am 2nd in the league and in with a chance of winning the league this weekend

Will definitely need to do some research on the tactics aspect but should be a cut and paste job once decided, making it nice and easy.

I like the thought of being able to watch the team you've assembled in action, until they lose every game that is!
