Tbf, I think they are fairly similar players with similar strengths and flaws. But for me Cavani is better in the air and better technically. More consistent goalscorer too

He probably is better goal scorer. He wouldn’t be playing through injuries like Costa has this season though. Why is because Costa has more of an impact and key to brings more success = better player.

Don’t think that’s comparable. Gerrard was key driving force for Liverpool’s cl win. Lampards success was playing for who were clearly the best team in the country at the time.

Chelsea were maybe the best team for 3 years of Lampard's 14 years at Chelsea

And that’s how many league titles he won, in 14 years. Costa won 2 in 3 years.

Both had other great players in their teams obv but you get my point.

Not really, Lampard was far more important to Chelsea's success than Costa regardless of the quality of team they both played in.

Suppose a more obvious one would be Shearer, probably the best CF in the PL era but countless others had more success trophy wise.

Original Ronaldo barely won anything at club level but most would consider him the best CF of his generation.

Na Costa was more important for the titles he won with Chelsea than Lampard was. You can dig back to see that quite clearly.

Not sure what you’re getting at, widely considered vs actual success and being a key driver of that success are different things.

Ronaldo was obv better than Costa. So was Shearer.

And if you’re going to compare their success that seems silly. Ronaldo is considered one of the best ever strikers. Shearer probably the best pl striker ever and played for a completely pash team. Bar a year or two.
