Lescott, Terry, Jagielka, Cahill, Baines, Cole, Richards, Johnson (Walker if fit)

Carrick, Parker, Lampard, Barry, Milner, Walcott, Young, Gerrard

Sturridge, Welbeck, Rooney, Holt

But i think there will be one less CM and another striker, probably Carroll. Think, on form that CM should be Gerrard but it won't be

I'd go with ...

GK - Hart, Foster, Ruddy/Green

DF - Rio, Terry, Cahill, Jagielka
RB - Johnson, Walker
LB - Cole, Baines

CM - Carrick, Parker, Gerrard, Lampard
WG - Walcott, Young, Oxlade Chamberlain, Johnson

ST - Rooney, Sturridge, Welbeck, Carroll

I'd like to see Milner in there, had forgotten about Johnson - pretty sure he'll be in the squad.

In all honesty, I wouldn't take one of Gerrard/Lampard, and rather the extra winger.

Wouldnt be suprised if Carrick isn't taken over Barry/Parker which in my mind is madness

Carrol supposedly in so think that would mean Holt not in. I'd go with Sturridge and Wellbeck but got a feeling one of them wont make the squad.

The idea of leaving Gerrard/Lampard to me is never going to happen, still easily two of your best players. One of them has to be in the side if your going to have any chance imo.

Not surprised by that, Hodgson likes to play 4-4-2 so Downing probably fits in better as a wide player.

Carroll, Crouch, Wellbeck, Rooney is what I'd guess the forwards to be.

Really think Richards and Carrick should be in the squad and probably first XI. A.Johnson/Lennon should be in squad over Downing for me as well. Wonder if A.Johnson will look to get a move after being left out.

Quite clear we will be playing a traditional 442 with big men up front though

surprised hendo is a backup and id like to say im surprised that downing made the squad, but im not, pleased for carroll though, really turned it around in the latter part of the season

and glen johnson still deserves to be the first choice rb for england, most of the time he has been a fantastic defender, and offers that little extra something i dont think any of our other rbs have

Richards has been the best RB in the league for me this season

How on earth Downing with 0 goals 0 assists, and a poor England history can go is beyond me

Players obviously not picked based on form. Carrick has been superb and Downing, does he even have an goal/assist to his name this season??

Sure these will be the questions that the media will be asking Hodgson, be interesting to see how he deals with it!
