Report: Hull City secured qualification to the knockout stages with a good win over Blackburn Rovers. They started well with Vaart finding Neymar who curled in a brilliant cross for Bent who headed just wide. They took the lead through Bent, this time the striker timing his run perfectly to get on the end of Vaarts through ball and finish neatly past the keeper. Blackburn did have their moments, Maggio and Zarate linking well to set up Cisse who fired just wide. In the second half Hull got their second when Menez took advantage of a mistake in defence to get in to the area and fire past McGregor. Blackburn did get a late concelation goal when Jarvis delivered into the area for Cisse to head in but it wasn't enough as Hull held on.

Newcastle and West Brom clashed head to head knowing that this was a must win game. Newcastle started brightly, new signings Vucnic and Hulk started well when Hulks cross to the far post found Vucnic whos header was parried away well by Robinson. West Brom attacked and went close when Turan high cross was met by Carrols head and only the bar denied the Geordie Giant. West Brom went forward once again and Turan 30 yard shot forced Jussi to push the ball out for a corner. The baggies finally got their reward when Robinson hoofed the ball up from a free kick to Carroll who knocked it down just outside of the area and Parker hit it on the half volley and it went in to the top corner. Fine goal. This was a wake up call for Newcastle and the game changed. Llorente header was just tipped over by Robinson. The resulting corner was put in by Modric and Hulk made a late run to the front post and he flicked it on in to the top corner. West Brom will be annoyed to concede so late in to the first half. Newcastle looked to go in front and should of when Modric was one on one with the keeper but decided to play it across to Vucnic but luckily for West Brom, Jagielka managed to slide in and save West Brom. West Brom went close on the hour when Rafinha attacked down the right and his cross was just a centimetre too high for Carroll who was unmarked and six yards out. Against the run of play Newcastle took the lead, Barry took a quick free kick just outside the box and dinked it to Modric who chested it down and then placed it past Robinson. A goal from the training ground it seems. West Brom brought players on and they impacted from the word go. Walker bombed down the right flank and put a cross in to Dempsey who then headed it to Odemwengie and his header was blocked by Phil Jones. Newcastle went forward and should of sealed the win when Modric played through Llorente but his finish was lacklustre and Foster saved it with ease. In the last minute of normal time, Palacios brought down Odemwengie just outside the area. Adam elected to take the free kick and he curled it round the wall and it nestled in to the bottom corner. Adam then ran over by the away section and fist pumped in front of the travelling supporters. West Brom hung on and the full time whistle went. This meant that Hull finish top of the group while Newcastle finish runners up. However West Brom finished as best 3rd place team and they will take on local rivals Wolves in the next round.
