Queens Park Rangers 1-2 Wolves
Goal Scorers: Castaignos(Sessegnon); Higuain(Nasri), Drogba(FK)

Report: Both teams had found their form in the knockout stages of the tournament and were looking to continue into the semis with just over a week until the big kick off. Both teams started strongly, the first chance going to Wolves when Fabregas found Nasri outwide who sent in a cross that Drogba headed wide. QPR had their first opportunity when Marko Marin beat Sagna and cut into the box before firing it the side netting under pressure from Ferdinand. Both teams were playing openly and Wolves had the next chance when Mikel played a good ball outwide to Higuain who fired in a powerful shot that Patricio got down well to push away. It was Wolves who creating more chances though and they should have taken the lead when Fabregas slipped in Drogba but the Ivorian waited too long and Skrtel took the ball away from him. The next chance went to QPR when Matri beat Chielini in the air to flick on for Lisandro running in behind and he played the ball low into the path of Sessegnon who sent the ball towards the bottom corner but somehow Neuer kept it out. The first goal went to Wolves when Song won the ball and found Fabregas who played the ball into Nasri on the right and his cross found Higuain at the near post and he headed past Patricio. Wolves started to turn up the tempo and QPR began to struggle to hold on, first Ruiz having to block a thumping drive from Drogba before Patricio was at full stretch to tip Nasri's effort over the bar. They just about managed to hang on till half time though meaning the score was 1-0. Wolves started the second half at an equaly high tempo and doubled their lead when Fabregas wriggled away from Makoun only to be hacked down. Drogba hit the free kick over the wall and perfectly into the corner of the net for the 2nd. Wolves made several changes to give some of the younger players a go. They continued to create chances, first Henderson finding Nasri who worked his way to the edge of the box before firing in a shot that went just wide. QPR began to work their way back into the hame though and came close when Lisandro found Matri who escape his marker and headed goalwards, again Neuer making a good save. Wolves had another chance when Gerrard played Lukaku in down the middle and the striker raced away from the defenders but Patricio came out well to deny him a goal. QPR finally made their first change when Castaignos replaced Makoun. The change paid off when Uchida burst forward and played Lisandro into some space and he sent in a cross that Neuer failed to hold onto and Castaignos tapped it in to make it 2-1. QPR sent on Rodallega and Formica as they looked for a leveler. They had a good chance when Formica played in Marin but Ferdinand came across to make a good tackle and Wolves held on to go into the semis.

Liverpool 3-2 Swansea
Liverpool Goal Scorers: Sturridge (Sandro) Taiwo, Romeu (Taiwo)
Swansea Goal Scorers: Balotelli (Hitzleberger) Anderson (Pandev)

Two of the finest managers in the league faced off today, and it was a big occasion for both. Swansea would look to continue their brilliant start while Liverpool will be looking for some silverware. Both fans were singing their hearts before the game, Liverpool fans however threw some inflatable sheep on to the field. Swansea looked extremely motivated and in the 4th minute were inches away of taking the lead when Balotelli played through Pandev who dinked it over the keeper only for it to shave the post. Liverpool replied with a quick attacking move, Sandro played the ball down the middle for Pastore who turned brilliantly and played it out wide to Sturridge. Sturridge then shot but it deflected only in to the path of Negredo who half volleyed it off the bar. Liverpool continued to attack and took the lead. Sandros cross field pass found Sturridge who controlled it brilliantly on his chest and continued his run. The ball bounced just right and he volleyed it right in to the top corner. Alves could nothing about it. Liverpool pressed and should of doubled their lead when Negredos knock down for Douglas Costa who was clean through with only the keeper to beat. But his side foot shot went straight at Alves. But on the stroke of half time, Liverpool struck again. Sturridge was pulled back by Shawcross and a free kick was given. Up step Taiwo who curled it in to the top corner. Fine goal. The half time whistle went and Swansea players went off looking disappointed. When they came out for the second half, they look emotionless, Wayne must of threw a lot of tea cups. They went forward and showed signs of getting back in to the game when Balotelli laid off Hitzleberger who forced Mandanda in to a great save. Swansea went forward again, Anderson playing a passing triangle with Hitzleberger. He was tackled by Sandro but Hitzleberger took control of the loose ball. He then played a threaded ball over the top for Balotelli, Mario chested it on to his right foot and then powered it home. This was a wake up call for Liverpool and they started to attack more, in the 70th minute Ramires and Romeu came on. Good tactical choice by LSTD, five minutes after Romeu made it 3-1. Ramires found Costa out wide who played the ball down the line for the overlapping Taiwo who put a cross in to the near post and Romeu made a late run and headed home. Swansea from kick off poured players forward, they nearly made it 3-2 when Balotellis low cross was diverted on to the post by Rajokivic out stretched leg. They pulled it back to 3-2 Swansea when Swansea quickly breaked after a Liverpool corner. Pandev ran from his own half to the Liverpool penalty area and pulled it back for Anderson who curled it in to the bottom corner. Swansea kept going forward and in the last minute of normal time were inches away of an equalizer when Balotellis cross was headed by Klose only for it to be cleared off the line by Isla. In the last minute of injury time, Balotelli turned his marker in side out. He ran through on goal he took it round the keeper. Mandanda clipped him and Balotelli fell to the floor. The referee had none of it and the full time whistle went. Swansea players surrounded the ref and were furious. Replays shown that Mandanda made contact but not enough for him to go down and Balotelli fell when the ball was out of play. Swansea players and fans will feel cheated but to get so far in this tournament is a good omen for the upcoming season. Liverpool march on to the semi finals and will play Chelsea.
