2.5 years at the club and still no answer for teams that sit back and allow us to have the ball. They know AWB is useless with the ball so they sit back and get narrow and allow the ball to go to AWB (which Villarreal did plenty of times the other day) and it’s such an easy way to nullify us.
You’d think after coming up to 3 years at the club we might have a plan B against sides like Villarreal
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The last few games of the season completely killed any hope I had for him. I have stopped short of calling for him to be sacked. But wow it's hard not to - after some embarrassing and amateur performances from him in recent games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We finished 3rd and 2nd in his only two full seasons. That's the best we've done since Fergie. We haven't had back to back CL finishes before this season. So yea there is progress you utter moron
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, a Europa league and 2nd place with 81 points is a better two season showing than what we’ve had with Ole
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They were different seasons let's just make that clear. Also do you want Jose back then? I'd rather have Moyes back over him.
Ole might not be the man to take us back to the title but the team has been progressing. Your consistent hissy fits don't add anything Robb. You seem to come out of the woodwork when we lose these days. Like you enjoy it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
‘Hissy fits’ 😂. I’m in a good mood. And no, I don’t want Jose back. Even though he’s the best manager we’ve had since SAF his time was up and I was more than happy for him to go. But we needed a better replacement than Ole.
And whether or not you think Poch was that guy, since Jose left we’ve missed out on Poch, Tuchel, Ancelotti, Allegri, Nagelsmann etc. I’m sure there’s more. Our club aren’t as ruthless as the likes of Chelsea and City. And that will be why every season that goes by we sit and watch other sides lift the CL and wonder why a super club like ours doesn’t. It’s because the aim isn’t to challenge the best. It’s to finish in the top 4 and as long as supporters accept that as ‘progress’ the kool aid is enough to keep it happening.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If he doesn't win anything next season I think he will be sacked.
You aren't really fair on him though Robb. The club above Ole is a mess is it not? I actually think he's done better than we all expected. You didn't think we'd finish top 3 under him did you?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure. But I’m certain that had Liverpool not lost their three first choice centre backs to injury for most of the season and Chelsea had started the season with Tuchel we’d not be in second place. Not to mention our crazy away form which I’m sure had a lot to do with zero fans at the grounds considering how poor our away form was before the pandemic.
As you say, next season will be a big season for him. Even if we finish fourth he should be sacked but I’m not too sure the Glazers care too much about real progress. Just that CL money.

He’s at the perfect club Tbf. He’s a club legend and has the patience from the majority of fans all the way up to the boardroom. If you plonked him into the Chelsea job or the Arsenal job I just don’t see it working as ‘well’ as it has done. Sometimes having a nice guy - a comfort blanket if you will - does wonders in the short term.

Chelsea didn’t give a damn about legends but we should trust the process
The patience of the Glazers is probably a good selling point, if you are looking for a manager that wants to do things gradually. Providing you had someone that was really good at this, it could potentially be successful.
I think we can both agree there’s a lack of ambition with the owners, though I think they want to win more than you do. But with that comes a lack of ruthlessness, and job stability can be appealing to many. Providing you’re not massively underperforming your targets.
Will be interesting to see who they go for after Ole. If he’s available I imagine they’d go back for Pochettino. He fits well with that approach, and would probably like the time and patience that he would probably get.

I hope so. Seemed a strange decision to go to PSG (though he a club legend and was out of work so maybe that’s why). Their players like Neymar and others aren’t really going to press like demons and work as hard as Poch wants his players to do so. I bet Tuchel loves the Chelsea squad he gets to work with as I’m sure it’s much less of a headache than what he had at PSG.

I know what you mean, but I think Poch toned down the pressing, in fairness. Coaching a club with that level of talent will always be appealing. And you can pick up some easy trophies.

However this stuff is just hissy fit nonsense. The manager who just finished 3rd and then second in the best league in the world isn't good enough for teams near the bottom? Come on fellas. You're as thick as mince if you believe that rubbish.

Pep wouldnt have done much with them either. They were a rubbish side. What did you expect him to do?
This Cardiff argument is a nonsense one. People act like he relegated a really good team. They weren't. They were awful and white honestly a championship quality team.
It’s a weird one. Often when managers fail at big clubs they still can get a decent job on the strength of the reputation they’d built up before getting the big job.
Problem is, Ole didn’t get the Man United job on the strength of his work as a manager before coming here.
If Ole got sacked say, at the end of next season I really don’t know where he’d get a job managing. Not even slating the guy, I just can’t predict where he’d go. Might go the same way as RDM.

This is the thing, I don’t know if he does enough at United to really build up his reputation among the smaller clubs.
Moyes got good jobs due to his prior work at United. Mourinho’s still living off a reputation he built up over ten years of huge success.
I have no clue where Ole could go. It’s not like he’s even the most successful Norwegian coach and can walk into the national team job.
It’s funny when you think about it. This is our manager and we’re wondering if he could even get another premier league job.

Jurgen Klopp relegated Mainz. That must mean he's not good enough for Liverpool using that logic.
It was a starting point in English football managemen for him. It didn't go well.

He took over when they weren’t in the relegation zone and then won two games between then and when they were relegated as far as i remember then hit sacked with them 17th in the championship.
Apparently people say he played some good stuff at Cardiff from time to time for short periods of games. Which seems to be a trait he’s taken to United. I’m sure he allows players plenty of freedom where when it comes off it looks good and allows people to forget LVG/Jose etc. But his problem is maintaining that for long enough to be a pattern rather than hoping the good players pull out some magic to save the day. All the comebacks were great this season but no too side should ever go behind as much as that game after game.

I don't think he'd have any difficulty getting a job like Palace personally.
Wouldn't surprise me to see him shift into National team managing as well.
If guys like Coleman and Roberto Martinez can get cushy jobs with Wales and Belgium then i don't doubt Ole could too.
I doubt it if Palace get Dyche.
He could go into international management I’m sure. But he couldn’t walk into his own national team job given the bloke they just gave the job to is far more successful in management than Ole.
Isn’t Lampard going to Palace?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
They are the biggest problem.

He's finished 3rd and 2nd and not good enough for Sheff Utd and Westbrom now. 😂😂😂😂😂

When the club above it is a mess, is it really wise to pin your hopes on a man that doesn’t have the ability to make up for those disadvantages?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep. It’s fair to consider Ole an extension of those messy upstairs decisions rather than the cure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep exactly. In fairness to Ole, he’s actually done better than a lot expected, considering a lot of the issues. Though not many expected much not many think he’s really at the level that United need for a manager.

I get that people don't think he can win the big trophies and respect that view even though I don't share it.

Also didn't Ole take over Cardiff in January the season they went down? I'm sure he did.
