I dunno if it was considerably weaker, to be honest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I guess with City’s squad depth it’s all relative.
Though you may be right, actually. Just realised Mendy played in both those games.
If the manager is not up to it, then any time given to him is a waste of time. One day we will all look back at Ole’s time at United with the same disappointment we look back at Jose and LVG. All this talks of building for the future is bullsh#t, progress is just an illusion.
Our next manager won’t like AWB, Lindelof and maybe McGuire. If he uses 433, Bruno becomes a surplus. Then we will be back to square one needing another rebuild.
These days managers get one season for progress and rebuild, then they have to deliver. Ole got 2.5 years of progress and rebuild, but he is still not ready😯

Yep. No way does the next manager have the same philosophy as Ole (whatever that is). The next manager will be undoing some of his rebuilding.
Ole hasn't rebuilt anything... United best team this season.
De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw; McTominay, Pogba; Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Cavani.
So Ole has spent 300 million on "rebuilding", and the only new additions to the first 11 from when he took over, is Cavani (34 years old, free), AWB (terrible), Maguire (80 mill, decent centre back) and Fernandes (60 mill, good player)
Not exactly a great "rebuild" for 300 million.
Depends who we appoint as to what players will really fit, but whoever we appoint is going to have to make use of the squad that they are given. You cannot just completely change a squad to fit with what the manager wants, even City didn’t do that.

Yeah. that is why giving manager time only makes sense, if the time is given to the manager that has potential to win big trophies.
Giving time to a substandard manager in hope of building a better squad for the next manager is completely pointless. There are so many things that can go wrong.
